JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars circled back to offense in the middle rounds.
They did so in Round 5 by again addressing an important position, selecting a tight end for the second time in as many days.
Tanner Koziol, a tight end from the University of Houston, on Saturday was selected by the Jaguars No. 164 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft – the 24th selection of Round 5. The Jaguars selected Texas A&M tight end Nate Boerkircher in Round 2 Friday.
Koziol (6-feet-6, 247 pounds) played 2025 at Houston and 2022-2024 at Ball State. He was a first-team All-Big 12 selection in 2025, a second-team All-Mid-American Conference selection in 2024 and a third-team All-MAC selection in 2023.
He caught 237 collegiate career passes for 2,234 yards and 24 touchdowns, including 74 receptions for 727 yards and six touchdowns for Houston in 2025.
Koziol became the third player from Baylor selected by the Jaguars in the NFL Draft, the first since defensive end Derek Parish (Round 7) in 2023.
The Jaguars have five selections remaining in the '26 draft: No. 196 overall (Round 6), No. 203 overall (Round 6), No. 233 overall (Round 7), No. 240 overall (Round 7), No. 245 overall (Round 7).
The Jaguars did not have a selection in Thursday's Round 1, having traded the selection to move up and select wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter No. 2 overall (Round 1) in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Jaguars earlier in the draft selected Boerkircher (No. 56 overall, Round 2), Texas A&M defensive tackle Albert Regis (No. 81 overall, Round 3), Oregon guard Emmanuel Pregnon (No. 88 overall, Round 3), Maryland safety Jalen Huskey (No. 100 overall, Round 3) and Duke edge Wesley Williams (No. 119 overall, Round 4).
