"He played all over the place for them (Florida State). He played nickel corner, and a little bit of safety. We know he's going to be a good special teams player. He also adds versatility – corner, nickel, special teams."
Quick bio:
A junior college transfer, he finished his career with 99 career tackles, six tackles for loss, 15 passes defensed and five interceptions in two seasons. Harris started seven games as a senior, finishing as the team's second-leading tackler with 58. He led FSU last season with nine passes defensed. He also led the team in tackles against then No. 1-ranked Oklahoma. He began his college career at El Camino Community College.
Quick take:
Harris, like the Jaguars' fifth-round selection – linebacker Brandon Marshall – is expected to compete for a backup role as a rookie, and to make an immediate impact on special teams. McDonough said Harris was "excellent on special teams" at FSU, and has a real chance to make the team as a backup as a rookie.
What he brings:
McDonough said Harris plays with energy, and has a chance to play a role on special teams quickly. He played high school quarterback in an option offense, and Mularkey said the Jaguars may experiment with him as a wildcat-type quarterback in some situations.
