BIG IMPRESSION

• The Jaguars bounced back from a disappointing Week 2 performance with an impressive beatdown of the reigning AFC champs. From the opening snap to the final buzzer, the Jaguars dominated the Patriots in every phase. The Jaguars heeded their head coach's advice to turn practice preparation into game reality, paying closer attention to detail all week and showcasing their winning habits in an impressive home-field performance. The Jaguars ran to the ball like mad men and knocked the Patriots around at every turn, while the offense executed the game plan with flawless precision. As a result, the Jaguars methodically beat down the Patriots for 60 minutes and emphatically reestablished themselves as title contenders.

KEYS TO VICTORY

• The Jaguars got back on track by sticking to the principles that have helped them emerge as one of the league's top teams under Liam Coen. The defense stopped the run and forced critical turnovers at pivotal moments, including cornerback Travis Hunter's end-zone interception that changed the game's momentum. The defense also came away with another fumble on the edge and forced Patriots kicker Andres Borregales into a missed chip-shot field goal; the Jaguars' defense conceded yardage but kept the Patriots out of the end zone when it mattered. Offensively, the Jaguars rode a balanced performance to keep the Patriots' vaunted defense off balance and out of sorts. The unit totaled 315 yards with a near-even run-pass split (137 rush yards; 178 pass yards), keeping the Patriots guessing and unable to dictate the game's terms.

TREVOR'S TIME

• The former No. 1 overall pick continues to rise up the charts as an elite quarterback with another stellar performance. Despite the modest production (completed 19 of 29 passes for 182 yards with three touchdowns and an interception), Trevor Lawrence methodically picked apart the Patriots' soft coverage with a steady diet of tosses between the hashes at intermediate range. His timing and connection with Parker Washington, Jakobi Meyers and Brenton Strange kept the Jaguars on schedule. Additionally, the sixth-year veteran repeatedly took the checkdown to the running back and avoided the "hero" throws that routinely lead to interceptions. With Lawrence walking the line between game manager and playmaker depending on the moment, the Jaguars' offense ran like a well-oiled machine behind a quarterback playing as well as any in football.

UNSUNG HERO

• DaVon Hamilton might be the best nose tackle in football based on his dominance through three games. The 6-feet-4, 335-pounder crushed the Patriots' running game at the point of attack and played a major role in forcing Patriots quarterback Drake Maye out of his comfort zone. With Hamilton registering five tackles, a half-sack and a fumble recovery, the Jaguars' star defensive tackle quietly dominated the game and helped the defense get back on track.

OFFENSIVELY SPEAKING

• Coen had the offense cooking from the start with a game plan designed to spread the ball around the perimeter to multiple playmakers. Lawrence connected with seven different pass catchers, but focused on getting the ball to Washington, Meyers and Strange as part of an "inside-out" approach that exploited voids over the middle of the field. Running back Bhayshul Tuten complemented the efficient passing game with a rock-solid ground game that forced the Patriots to pay closer attention to the run, opening up more intermediate windows for play-action passes.  With the offense clicking on all cylinders, the Jaguars topped 34 points in their sixth consecutive home game and dominated one of the league's premier defenses.

DEFENSIVELY SPEAKING

• The Jaguars dominated the Patriots with a rugged performance that matched the team's desired identity. From beginning to end, the Jaguars overwhelmed the Patriots with their energy, effort and physicality while taking the ball away in key moments. The defense executed the game plan by stopping the run on early downs and forcing a struggling quarterback to throw against an aggressive secondary that was pick hunting all day. With the game plan working to perfection under defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile's guidance, the Jaguars chalked up their second victory and earned some respect along the way.
