SMITH NAMED AFC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Jimmy Smith has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for December for his performance in the team's final five games of the regular season. It marks the first time a Jaguars Player has received Offensive Player of the Month award. Previously this year Tony Brackens (October and November) and Aaron Beasley (September) were named AFC Defensive Player of the Month.

In the Jaguars' five games since the start of December (four victories), Smith caught 41 passes for 582 yards (14.2-yard average) and one touchdown with a long of 62. He had 100-yard receiving games in four of the five contests.

Smith finished the season with a league-leading 116 receptions for 1,636 yards - both team records - and six touchdowns. He also had a team-record nine 100-yard games, which tied for the NFL lead.
