Jaguars back to work

Players and coaches arrived early this morning to begin preparations for Sunday's showdown with the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium.  The Jaguars can claim their first AFC South title and third overall division crown in franchise history with a win.

Winners of five of their last six games, the Jaguars are tied for fifth in the AFC with an 8-5 record after 13 games. The Jaguars are one of 16 NFL teams with a winning record.  There are still 12 teams alive for a playoff berth in the AFC with New England the only team to clinch a berth heading into Sunday.

Lewis continues Pro Bowl type season

Tight end Marcedes Lewis has shown no signs of slowing down as he leads the team with a career-high nine touchdown receptions along with 45 receptions for 574 yards.   He is one touchdown from tying Reggie Williams (2007) for the most receiving touchdowns in a season in franchise history.

Lewis is the only player on the team with multiple receptions in all 13 games.  He has two touchdowns in three different games (vs. Denver, at Buffalo, at Dallas) and scored on a one-yard pass from David Garrard last Sunday against Oakland.

Staying in control

It's no secret the Jaguars are at their best when controlling the clock, establishing a physical running game, converting third downs and scoring touchdowns in the red zone.

The Jaguars have excelled at all four phases through 13 games. The Jaguars have controlled the ball for 30 minutes or more in eight of 13 games including five straight and lead the NFL with only 12 three-and-out drives.  In the last five games, the Jaguars have registered 13 scoring drives of nine plays or more.   The Jaguars rank eighth in the NFL with a 41.7 conversion percentage on third down.
