JACKSONVILLE – Jaguars 2026 Training Camp continued Tuesday.
It was the 15th day of the second training camp under Head Coach Liam Coen, featuring a practice of about 90 minutes in light pads at the Miller Electric Center. Each day throughout camp, members of Jaguars Media – senior writer John Oehser, senior correspondent Brian Sexton, team reporter Kainani Stevens and correspondent John Shipley – will share an observation.
Here are Tuesday's "campservations:"
Oehser…
- Day 15 had a preparatory feel for the Jaguars, with the light-padded nature of the session meaning no significant contact and fewer big plays than normal. That approach was by design because Wednesday and Friday are expected to be intense, heavy-work days. First, the Jaguars are scheduled to practice against the Carolina Panthers in a joint practice in full pads Wednesday at the MEC. The teams will then play in Preseason Week 2 Friday at EverBank Stadium, with Head Coach Liam Coen saying on Monday that Jaguars starters and front-line players may play in that game. Yes, Tuesday was relatively light. But the coming few days may be the most intense – and most important – of '26 camp. Coen and the staff will want a better performance than last week's joint practice against the New Orleans Saints, and the sense here is fans attending the open-to-the-public session will see a motivated Jaguars team. Buckle up. Wednesday could be fun.
Sexton…
- It's no small deal that Coen is thinking about playing starters against Carolina. Coen is from the Sean McVay school, and the Los Angeles Rams rarely play starters in preseason games. Coen said last year he wasn't big on putting those guys on the field in August, opting to do it only after it became apparent his team needed live reps to get used to new schemes. This summer, Coen planned to sit starters in preseason games, but they didn't have a great joint practice last week and Coen saw that his team might need more than just a couple of hours with the Panthers. The Jaguars responded with good work the last two days. Guys have flown around. If that's the case on Wednesday, perhaps he will rethink who plays and how much Friday. But right now, this team looks like it could use the chance to sharpen itself for the season.
Stevens…
- A long list of injured players was announced just before Tuesday's practice, which makes you wonder if Coen will change course on playing starters against the Panthers. Offensive lineman Patrick Mekari and running back LeQuint Allen Jr. will miss the remainder of training camp due to injury. Meanwhile, wide receiver Parker Washington and offensive linemen Wyatt Milum and Chuma Edoga are all day-to-day but will be out until at least next week. Coen stated after practice Monday he would like to see his starters for at least a series or two Friday. However, this begs the question of whether it is worth the risk to put starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence in harm's way during Preseason Week 2.
Shipley…
- Tuesday was a lower-key practice for the Jaguars, though they still got in plenty of repetitions in team drills. The story of the day was the moving pieces along the offensive line, with rookie guard Emmanuel Pregnon getting reps at left guard with the starting offense for the second consecutive day. The Jaguars have had multiple offensive linemen miss time in training camp with injury, though they did officially get right tackle Walker Little back in practice as a full participant Tuesday. Also standing out on Day 15 was the Lawrence/wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. connection. With Washington missing his first practice of camp, Thomas was the most frequent target in the passing game and came down with several big catches from Lawrence during end-of-game drills at the end of practice.
