JACKSONVILLE – This was another day for walking and walking.

Day 12 of Jaguars 2026 Training Camp was for traveling, too – but before leaving for their 2026 preseason opener, the Jaguars held a final unpadded walkthrough at the Miller Electric Center with tight end Brenton Strange and defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile speaking to the media afterward.

The Jaguars will travel to New Orleans, La., Wednesday afternoon with a "joint practice" against the Saints scheduled for Thursday morning. They will play the Saints in the '26 preseason opener at Ceasars Superdome Saturday afternoon.

Highlights from Wednesday's media availabilities:

*Campanile on the value of "joint" practices: "The guys get excited about it. Anytime you're playing against somebody else, that's what's exciting about it. To see how everybody fares when the lights go on, that's what's fun about it." Thursday marks the first of four "joint" practices for the Jaguars this offseason. They will practice against the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday, August 18 and will practice against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tuesday and Wednesday, August 25-26. All three of those practices will be at the MEC. …

*Strange, a second-round selection by the Jaguars in the 2023 NFL Draft who signed a long-term contract extension this past offseason, spoke of feeling a bit more like a veteran entering his fourth NFL season. "I feel like I'm just now getting into my prime,," he said. "I definitely feel older. Different things pop up, or maybe the rookies will say something that I would've said last year, or being a rookie. So, there are times and moments that they make you feel old, but I feel like I'm just going into my prime. I feel like I'm just getting started."

*Strange on rookie tight ends Nate Boerkircher and Tanner Koziol, whose selections in the 2026 NFL Draft marked the first time in franchise history the Jaguars selected two tight ends in the same draft: "They're going to do great things, and they both have very unique skill sets. They're both very talented players. Nate, he does a little bit of everything, and then you see Tanner out here making plays every single day in the passing game, and he's special that way, being able to just go up top and get the ball. Both of those guys are super talented and special."

*Strange said he sees a bit of himself in Boerkircher in the sense that "he wants to do everything, and he wants to be involved in everything." Added Strange, "That's the most important thing being a football player, then blocking especially is just being willing, and being willing to put your head in there, and he definitely has that. He doesn't have any fear, and that's very impressive."

*Strange on how Boerkircher and Koziol could create opportunities for him in the passing offense: "There were some plays last year I wouldn't even have to pay attention to. You hear your certain part of the play and it's like, 'All right, I know what to do.' Now I have to pay attention to everything going on in the play call and even in meetings, just learning."

*Campanile praised second-year wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter, saying of Hunter at corner during '26 camp: "He has taken a big jump. It's just a little bit more fluid for him, easier for him to communicate. He knows it a little bit better. He's a different guy right now physically, which is great, but I think he's done a great job balancing both." Added Campanile, "He has elite ball skills. He can go up and tear the ball out of the air. That's advantageous for us, obviously defensively, and he's aggressive. He goes after the ball like a receiver, so that's what's exciting about him."

*Campanile on the position competition he will be watching Thursday and Saturday: "All of them." Key competitions defensively include outside linebacker, where fourth-year veteran Ventrell Miller and second-year veteran Branson Combs were listed on this week's unofficial depth chart as co-starters. "We're excited to see the guys all go out there and compete. There are some pretty contested battles. We'll find out a lot more after this week. I feel like we have good depth really at a very position." Campanile cited linebacker and secondary as particular competitive positions. …
