METAIRIE, La – Jaguars 2026 Training Camp continued Thursday.
It was the 13th day of the second training camp under Head Coach Liam Coen, featuring a two-hour, 30-minute practice against the New Orleans Saints at Ochsner Sports Performance Center. Each day throughout camp, members of Jaguars Media – senior writer John Oehser, senior correspondent Brian Sexton and team reporter Kainani Stevens – will share an observation.

- Day 13 was a typical joint practice, with each team having good moments and highlights – as the Jaguars pushed through what felt like their hottest, longest practice of camp to date. The Jaguars' offense struggled early enough that Head Coach Liam Coen said, "we came out and stunk early on," but the unit recovered with a very effective red-zone drill as quarterback Trevor Lawrence completed touchdowns to wide receivers Jakobi Meyers (two), Brian Thomas Jr. and Parker Washington and tight end Nate Boerkircher. That red-zone success gave practice a different feel than was the case early. The Jaguars also continued to navigate short-term offensive line injuries, with the running game improving as practice continued – and running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. continues to look stronger the more the contact increases. Wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter had a touchdown reception while allowing an explosive play defensively. The Jaguars appeared to get good pressure on Saints quarterback Tyler Shough, with cornerback Jabbar Muhammad continuing a strong camp.

- The Jaguars came to New Orleans for kind of work that used to be reserved for preseason games but is now achieved in joint practices. They're more controllable, and the coaches like to collaborate to create matchups that challenge starters without extensive injury risk. By all accounts, the Jaguars got done what they wanted Thursday. "Overall, it was great work," Jaguars Head Coach Liam Coen said. "We've got a couple little things, but no big fights or anything. It was good quality work that you can't simulate at home." There is so much to see in a joint practice session that you can't see it all. But a few things caught my eye. Anton Harrison looked comfortable at left tackle and held up well against Saints defensive end Chase Young. Lawrence had a couple of off-target throws but he threw lasers to Meyers and Thomas in red-zone work – and, when in Louisiana, Washington did his best Odell Beckham impersonation with a leaping one-handed grab that would have made the former LSU Tiger clap his hands. I remain amazed with Washington's consistency; every day, he makes you shake your head with something.

- The Jaguars-Saints joint practice was the Jaguars' longest so far of this training camp and allowed both teams to face different competitors after beating up on themselves for the past few weeks. I focused mostly on the Jaguars' defense to see how they fared against second-year quarterback Tyler Shough and the Saints' offense. End Travon Walker and tackle Arik Armstead were dominant in pass rush and were consistently around Shough with pressures and would-be sacks. Hunter had some limited defensive reps, including a rep on which he went up for the interception – but Saints wide receiver Chris Olave instead came down with a dynamic sideline catch. Hunter then switched to offense for the remainder of practice. In Hunter's place, Muhammad continued to have an impressive camp. He utilized the sideline exceptionally well to force Saints receivers out of bounds and abate the flow of New Orleans hurry-up offense. The Jaguars' second-team defense struggled a bit against Saints backup quarterback Spencer Rattler, who was operating at a consistently smooth pace. Shough had some success against the Jaguars' defensive starters, but I think in a real game it would be far more favorable for the Jags. Coen said after practice he was pleased with the work and will continue forward with the plan to keep all starters off the field in Saturday's preseason opener between the teams.
