Jacksonville Jaguars and GORUCK Celebrate National Volunteerism Month

National-Volunteerism-Month-End-Card-16x9

The Jaguars and GORUCK dedicated the month of April to giving back to the community with the mission and purpose of building a better Jacksonville together. Staff from both organizations committed time and talent through more than a dozen charitable opportunities at Jacksonville-area nonprofits.

During National Volunteerism Month, the Jaguars and GORUCK:

  • Assembled 300 homeless care kits with Changing Homelessness;
  • Walked 40+ dogs with the Jacksonville Humane Society
  • Sorted 8,500+ pounds of food with Feeding Northeast Florida and Waste Not Want Not
  • Planted 60 trees along the Emerald Trail with Greenscape and Groundworks Jacksonville in honor of Earth Day; and
  • Collected 32 bags of trash along the Jacksonville waterways, and in the OUTEAST Community, with the St. Johns Riverkeeper contributing to Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan's litter and blight campaign.

Among the service opportunities, staff volunteers also spent time with Habitat for Humanity to add the finishing touches to a local build, gave Waste Not Want Not's facility a fresh coat of paint, spent the afternoon with the City of Jacksonville at their annual Fish-A-Thon, supported Special Olympics Florida and their athletes at the annual North Florida Region Summer Games, and distributed food with Feeding Northeast Florida and their mobile unit.

"During the Jaguars National Volunteerism Month, I was able to connect with our DUUUVAL community and play my part in leaving an impact and making a difference," said Nicholas Berry, Jaguars partnership activations account manager. "I formed new relationships, took part in insightful opportunities and saw how one day of service can create a lasting change."

Thank you to Habitat for Humanity, Waste Not Want Not, the City of Jacksonville, Greenscape of Jacksonville, the Jacksonville Humane Society, Feeding Northeast Florida, Special Olympics of Northeast Florida, St. Johns Riverkeeper and Changing Homelessness for working with the Jaguars to create an even greater impact here in Jacksonville.
