JACKSONVILLE – The postseason is at hand, and all that that entails.
The AFC South Champion Jaguars (13-4) will play the wild-card Buffalo Bills (12-5) in an AFC Wild Card Playoff game at EverBank Stadium Sunday at 1 p.m. – a game featuring one of the postseason's hottest teams against perhaps its most experienced team.
The No. 3-seeded Jaguars enter the postseason with eight consecutive victories, winning six of those games by 14 or more points. They have earned their way into the postseason with victories over five playoff teams and three division champions.
The No. 6 Bills, AFC East Champions from 2020-2024, are making their seventh consecutive postseason appearance having finished second in the division to the No. 2 New England Patriots (14-3).
It's a game that features perhaps the best quarterback in the postseason – 2024 MVP Josh Allen – and perhaps the hottest, with Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence accounting for 19 touchdowns with one turnover in the last six games.
This is a huge matchup, as are all postseason matchups. The Jaguars are playing as well as any NFL team entering the postseason, but the postseason is a different – and more pressurized – thing. They have been tested a lot this season. Now, the real tests begin.

Here are 10 things the Jaguars must do to beat the Bills Sunday:
- Run. This has been No. 1 for the Jaguars all season because they first want to run. They are run-centric. They haven't done this as well as they want in the last month and a half. The Bills have struggled at times against the run. It's time for the Jaguars to run as well as they want to run again.
- Be physical. When the Jaguars are the more physical team this season, they usually win. This is their identity. They must play to it Sunday.
- Pressure Allen … Allen might be the best player in the postseason. He was the 2024 NFL MVP and remains capable of truly lifting those around him. The Jaguars are one of the NFL's best teams at pressuring passers. They must pressure Allen.
- ... and limit him, too. What makes Allen special is not just his big-play passing, it's his physicality as a runner – and his ability to score touchdowns and convert third downs rushing. His versatility and effectiveness makes the Bills one of the NFL's best third-down offenses. Allen likely will be effective as a runner. Sunday. The Jaguars can't let this define the game.
- Keep ripping. Lawrence has been an elite quarterback since Head Coach Liam Coen counseled him publicly and privately to "let it rip" and play free. The confidence Lawrence has gained from that has been season- and career-changing. Lawrence has played like the NFL's best quarterback for the last two months. If he continues on that trajectory, the Jaguars can win any matchup.
- Control the run. The Bills are the NFL's best running team. The Jaguars are the NFL's No. 1 running defense and haven't allowed a runner to run for more than 75 yards in any game. Bills running back James Cook might be the NFL's best runner and he can create yards where seemingly none are available. The Bills run well enough that Cook may reach 100 yards Sunday. He may have multiple drives on which he is effective. What the Jaguars can't do is let Cook and the Bills dominate for extended periods.
- Finish drives. The Jaguars have six victories by 14 or more points during their eight-game winning streak. The two close games came when they committed red-zone/end-zone turnovers in road victories over the Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts. When this team finished drives, it's really hard to beat.
- Force two turnovers. One for early momentum and a lead. Another to secure a late lead. If Turnovers have been this team's defensive identity. That must continue in the postseason.
- Feed off the crowd. This figures to be a toughest ticket and the most hyped crowd at the 'Bank in three years. This will be an atmosphere to remember. Duval will have energy. The Jaguars must use it in a big way.
- Just win. It's the postseason. Survive and advance. However it feels. However it looks.
