Keep Building the Momentum | Experts' Final Analysis Before Week 15 vs. Jets

WK15 FINAL ANALYSIS

JACKSONVILLE – Each week during the 2025 season, Jaguars "experts" – Frank Frangie, Jeff Lageman, Brent Martineau, John Oehser, Brian Sexton, J.P. Shadrick and Kainani Stevens – will analyze the following day's Jaguars matchup.

Up this week:

Frank Frangie, Radio Voice of the Jaguars

  • The Jaguars will win if: They keep playing like they are playing. They have been very good lately — efficient, taking care of the ball, being the more physical team. The stars are stepping up. The key is to not be asleep at the wheel because they are playing a struggling team. It's still an NFL game. And the Jets have won 3 of their last 6 after a rough start.
  • The Jets will win if: The Jags are a bit complacent, which isn't likely. The Jets must play very clean and somehow force mistakes from a Jags team that hasn't made a lot of them lately. The Jets need to play their best, hope the Jags make mistakes, keep it close into the fourth quarter and see what happens.
  • As Frangie sees it: The Jags are the better team, are focused, are at home and should win. Nothing is easy in the NFL. Anyone can beat anyone. But if the Jags are locked in, they will win this game.

Jeff Lageman, Jaguars analyst and former Jaguars defensive end

  • The Jaguars will win if: They can protect the football, keeping any emotional momentum away from a struggling Jets team that has only 2 takeaways this season. Running effectively will allow the Jaguars to keep the Jets defense off balance and away from obtaining their first interception on the season.
  • The Jets will win if: Their special teams scores, providing a boost to their confidence. The Jets have scored twice on punt returns and once on kickoff return this season. The quarterback situation has been in constant flux throughout the season and Hall having a big game as a runner would help that situation out.
  • As Lageman sees it: This game is about taking care of business as a team, being who you are and not making this game about the opponent. It's not easy, but focus and concentration is the sign of mature football teams and the Jaguars have shown they have progressed in that respect this year. The Jets are not a very good team, and if the Jaguars stack this one in the win column it makes the future very fun with a game in Denver coming up.

Brent Martineau, Action Sports Jax Sports Director

  • The Jaguars will win if: Quarterback Trevor Lawrence gets off to another fast start. A slow starter at times in his career and this season, Lawrence in the last two weeks has had two of the best starts to his career to help the Jaguars to an early lead. If the Jaguars take the lead on the Jets, this game will be over early in Jacksonville.
  • The Jets will win if: Running back Breece Hall runs for over 100 yards, and New York wins the turnover battle by two or more. The Jets are not a good team right now, so they will need some help in the turnover game. They also must do something nobody else in the NFL has been able to do against the Jaguars: Run the football well.
  • As Martineau sees it: The Jaguars are almost two-touchdown favorites Sunday, and that's hard for many in Jacksonville to comprehend. It's almost uncomfortable to be favored by so many. The underrated part of this team is its maturity. This team can handle the moment and the expectations. The Jaguars roll to their fifth consecutive victory and 10th of the season, 27-10.

John Oehser, jaguars.com senior writer

  • The Jaguars will win if: They run effectively, protect the ball and stop the run. The Jaguars have won four consecutive games, with three of those victories by 17 or more points, and they're peaking at the right. The Jaguars need to take advantage of what appears to be a matchup advantage on the lines of scrimmage.
  • The Jets will win if: They force the Jaguars into mistakes. The Jets have struggled to stop the run, and they've struggled to force turnovers with a league-low 2 takeaways this season. They need to make big plays defensively as a heavy road underdog, something they haven't done well this season.
  • As Oehser sees it: This is a game the Jaguars should win. If you're going to win division titles and navigate your way to 11-to-12-victory seasons, you must beat the teams you're supposed to beat. Being a heavy favorite is new territory for this developing team. How they handle that is the storyline to watch Sunday.

Brian Sexton, jaguars.com senior correspondent

  • The Jaguars will win if: They approach the Jets as if they are next week's opponent, the Denver Broncos. This is professional football and there are capable players on every team, even those with a 3-10 record. If the Jaguars' focus is aligned with the Jaguars' feet on Sunday, they will beat the Jets and have their first 10-win season since 2017.
  • The Jets will win if: The Jaguars approach them as if they're ... the Jets. New York traded away two of its best players last month when they sent defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to Dallas and cornerback Sauce Gardner to Indianapolis. The Jaguars would be wise to remember the season finale in 2021 when they were 2-14 and beat the Indianapolis Colts, who seemed headed to the playoffs before that game.
  • As Sexton sees it: The Jaguars will beat the Jets. Jaguars Head Coach Liam Coen's team is different. He won't let their focus wane – and listening to players this week, it doesn't sound as if they will take their foot off the gas. These Jags aren't those Jags. They'll win the games they're supposed to down the stretch and this is one they're supposed to win.

J.P. Shadrick, jaguars.com senior reporter

  • The Jaguars will win if: They don't screw this up. If they play their normal physical style on both sides of the ball, they should be OK. They need to knock out the Jets early and avoid any upset motivation.
  • The Jets will win if: The Jaguars turn the ball over a couple times, and make mistakes. The Jets need a few breaks to go their way in this game – such as takeaways, special teams miscues or missed assignments from the Jaguars' defense. It is the NFL, so weird things can happen.
  • As Shadrick sees it: There's a big difference between these two teams: the Jaguars are building confidence and momentum headed toward a postseason berth – maybe an AFC South title and a high seed in the AFC playoffs. The Jets are headed to Cancun in a few weeks. With the Houston Texans only a game back in the AFC South, the Jaguars cannot afford to take any opponent lightly down the stretch. Every win counts and I expect the Jaguars to play like it.

Kainani Stevens, Jaguars team reporter

  • The Jaguars will win if: They don't underestimate their opponent and stop the run. The Jets are a one-dimensional team right now that relies heavily on Hall. If the Jaguars stop the run the way they have all season, then they shouldn't have a problem beating the Jets.
  • The Jets will win if: They win the turnover battle. The Jets have been historically bad this season when it comes to takeaways, but they need to capitalize on any mistakes the Jaguars make in this game. New York's special teams is capable of making plays and that could be the spark the Jets need to keep things close.
  • As Stevens sees it: This is a game the Jaguars should win easily. I'm looking forward to seeing the progression of Lawrence after an impressive performance in a victory over the Colts last Sunday. I expect another good run-stopping game from the defensive line and a decisive win at the 'Bank.
