Jaguars 2024 Free-Agent Acquisitions

As the 2024 free agency period kicks off, speculation reaches its peak or dwindles depending on the upcoming moves. The official start of the new league year on March 13th at 4:00 PM ET marks the moment when free agents can sign with new teams. Preceding this, the legal tampering window which opened on March 11th, allowing teams to negotiate with players' agents from other teams until the new league year begins.

Josiah Deguara, Tight End

  • Former team: Green Bay Packers. Experience: 6th NFL season. Age: 27.
  • About Deguara: Deguara was originally drafted by Green Bay in the third round (94th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. The Folsom, Calif. native has played in 50 games across four seasons with the Packers and recorded 47 receptions for 436 yards and two touchdowns. He played collegiately at the University of Cincinnati (2015-19), where he appeared in 46 games and posted 92 receptions for 1,117 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Arik Armstead, Defensive Lineman

  • Former team: San Fransisco 49ers. Experience: 10th NFL season. Age: 30.
  • About Armstead: Armstead, the No. 17 overall selection in the 2015 NFL Draft by the 49ers, started 97 of 116 games over the past nine seasons. He registered 33.5 sacks over that span, including five this past season and a career-high 10 in 2019. He has started 12 playoff games, and his eight sacks in those games were the second-most in 49ers franchise history.

Ronald Darby, Cornerback

  • Former team: Baltimore Ravens. Experience: 10th NFL season. Age: 30.
  • About Darby: The veteran has played with five teams in nine NFL seasons, playing last season with the Ravens. Originally selected by the Buffalo Bills in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft, he also has played with the Philadelphia Eagles, the Washington Football Team and Denver Broncos. Darby, who has started 95 of 105 career games, has eight career interceptions with 97 passes defensed.

Gabe Davis, Wide Receiver

  • Former team: Buffalo Bills. Experience: Fifth NFL season. Age: 24.
  • About Davis: A fourth-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, Davis started 47 of 64 games in four seasons with the Bills and 163 passes for 2,730 yards and 27 touchdowns. He caught 45 passes for 746 yards and seven touchdown passes this past season.

Devin Duvernay, Returner/Wide Receiver

  • Former team: Ravens. Experience: Fifth NFL season. Age: 26.
  • About Duvernay: A third-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, Duvernay was a two-time Pro Bowl selection – 2021-2022 – as a returner with the Ravens and was named first-team Associated Press All-Pro in 2021. He has returned 69 punts for a 12.8-yard career average with 73 kickoff returns for two touchdowns and a 24.8-yard career average. He has caught 94 passes for 898 yards and five career touchdowns.

Trevis Gipson, Outside Linebacker

Former team: Tennessee Titans. Experience: Fifth NFL season. Age: 26.

About Gipson: A fifth-round selection by the Chicago Bears in the 2020 NFL Draft, Gipson played three seasons with the Bears and last season with the Titans. He has played in 48 games and registered 42 tackles, 21 quarterback hits, 11 sacks, 11 tackles for loss and six forced fumbles.

  • Former team: Bills. Experience: 10th NFL season. Age: 31.
  • About Morse: Morse, who played five seasons with the Bills after playing his first four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs signed with the Jaguars after being released by the Bills earlier this offseason. Morse started 77 games for the Bills and 49 games for the Chiefs.

Darnell Savage, Safety

  • Former team: Green Bay Packers. Experience: Sixth NFL season. Age: 26.
  • About Savage: A first-round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, Savage started 69 of 72 games in five seasons with the Packers. He has nine career interceptions, with one returned for a touchdown, and has 306 tackles – including 222 solos. He has been credited with 34 passes defensed and nine tackles for loss.

Joey Slye, Kicker

Former team: Washington Commanders. Experience: Sixth NFL season. Age: 27.

About Slye: Slye, who kicked for the Commanders the past two seasons, kicked for the Carolina Panthers in 2019-2020 and kicked for three teams – the Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers and Commanders – in 2021. He has converted 121 of 147 career field goals – 20 of 32 from 50 yards or more – and 138 of 156 career extra points. He converted 19 of 24 field goals – three of five from 50 yards or more – and 32 of 35 extra points in 2023.

Jaguars 2024 trade acquisitions

Mac-Jones-Acquired

Mac Jones, quarterback

Experience: Fourth NFL season. Age: 25.

About Jones: The Jaguars this past weekend acquired Jones in a trade with the New England Patriots, with the terms of the deal undisclosed. Jones, the No. 15 overall selection by the Patriots in the 2021 NFL Draft, completed 864 passes for 1,308 yards and 46 touchdowns with 36 interceptions while starting 42 games. He is expected to be a backup to starter Trevor Lawrence.

Jaguars 2024 Free-Agent Re-Signings

Josh Allen, Outside Linebacker

  • Experience: Sixth NFL Season
  • Age: 26.
  • About Allen: The No. 7 overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, Allen set a franchise record with 17.5 sacks last season. He was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on March 13, with the Jaguars placing the franchise tag on him on March 5. The Jaguars and Allen have until July 15 to reach a long-term deal. If that doesn't happen, Allen can play on a one-year guaranteed contract by signing the franchise tender or opt not to sign the tender and not play in 2023.

Ezra Cleveland, Left Guard

  • Experience: Fifth NFL season. Age: 25.
  • About Cleveland: The Jaguars re-signed Cleveland late last week after acquiring him in a trade from the Minnesota Vikings last October 31. He started five games at left guard and one at left tackle for the Jaguars last season.

Tyler Shatley, Ofensive Lineman

  • Experience: 11th NFL season. Age: 26.
  • About Thomas: Shatley, an undrafted free agent in May 2014, re-signs with the Jaguars for his 11th NFL Season with the team. he has played in 145 games and currently holds the franchise record for the most consecutive games played (140).

Blake Hance, Offensive Lineman

  • Experience: Fourth NFL season. Age: 28.
  • About Hance. Hance re-signed with the Jaguars days before he was scheduled to become a restricted free agent. He started one of 17 games played with the Jaguars last season.

Caleb Johnson, Linebacker

  • Experience: Fourth NFL season. Age: 25.
  • About Johnson: One of the Jaguars' top special teams players the past two seasons, Johnson re-signed with the Jaguars Wednesday. He played 17 games and registered five special teams, the third highest total on the team.

D'Ernest Johnson, Running Back

  • Experience: Sixth NFL season. Age: 28.
  • About Johnson: The veteran joined the Jaguars as an unrestricted free agent in the 2023 offseason, and played solidly in a backup role in 2023. He's a valuable special teams player who rushed 108 yards on 41 carries and caught 10 passes for 140 yards in 2023.

Jeremiah Ledbetter, Defensive Tackle

  • Experience: Sixth NFL season. Age: 29.
  • About Ledbetter: The Jaguars re-signed the veteran interior defensive lineman late last week. He was a solid reserve after joining the team as a free agent in 2021.

Daniel Thomas, Safety

  • Experience: Fifth NFL season. Age: 26.
  • About Thomas: Thomas, a fifth-round selection by the Jaguars in the 2020 NFL Draft, re-signed with the team late last week. He has been a backup safety and one of the team's top special teams players the last four seasons.
