Jaguars linebacker Akin Ayodele has been named as the November honoree for the Jaguars/Morgan Stanley Community Leader Award, presented monthly during the NFL season to the Jaguars player that demonstrates exemplary community involvement.
In partnership with Morgan Stanley, a $500 donation will be made on Ayodele's behalf to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Four players are named monthly winners during the 2003 season. Punter Chris Hanson was the September winner, and October's winner was TE/ LS Joe Zelenka. The program concludes in December with a year-end luncheon at ALLTEL Stadium when an additional $3,000 charity donation will be made to the player selected as the 2003 Community Leader of the Year. The Jaguars 2002 Community Leader of the year was former linebacker Wali Rainer.
Ayodele, the Jaguars' third-round pick in 2002, has been a fixture in the Jacksonville community since his arrival. He makes countless visits to middle and high schools, speaking to students on a variety of subjects including drug abuse and prevention of teen violence. Ayodele will appear in a public service announcement to support an anti-smoking campaign.
