Ephraim Salaam named "Community Leader"

Jaguars offensive tackle Ephraim Salaam has been named as the September honoree for the Jaguars/Morgan Stanley Community Leader Award, presented monthly during the NFL season to the Jaguars player that demonstrates exemplary community involvement.

In partnership with Morgan Stanley, a $500 donation will be made to Salaam's EMS Foundation which serves underprivileged kids through education. Four players will be named monthly winners during the 2004 season. The program concludes in December with a year-end luncheon at ALLTEL Stadium when an additional $3,000 charity donation will be made to the player selected as the 2004 Community Leader of the Year. The 2003 Jaguars/ Morgan Stanley Community Leader of the Year was tight end/ long snapper Joe Zelenka.

Salaam, who joined the Jaguars this past off-season, has made an immediate impact in the Jacksonville community since his arrival. He has made several community outreach visits, school visits and worked with the Jaguars Youth Football Program and the YMCA during a field development program.
