JACKSONVILLE – The sun stayed out for the most part, and the pads stayed off.

This was the scene Friday on Day 2 of Jaguars 2017 Training Camp, a day on which the Jaguars worked for more than two hours in 90-degree temperatures on the practice fields adjacent to EverBank Field.

Safety Barry Church and wide receiver Allen Robinson spoke to the media after practice, with Head Coach Doug Marrone scheduled to speak after an evening practice Saturday. We'll have more on what Church and Robinson said later Friday on jaguars.com.

The Jaguars worked without pads for a second consecutive day. The first scheduled practice in pads during '17 camp is Saturday. An estimated 2,035 fans attended Friday's session.

A look at Day 2 of Jaguars 2017 Training Camp:

HIGHLIGHTS

*Blake Bortles looked sharp throughout much of Day 2, and the same was true of reserve quarterbacks Brandon Allen and Chad Henne. All completed several long passes down the sideline, and Bortles looked sharp on intermediate and short passes. Allen had one uh-oh moment when a short pass nearly was intercepted by cornerback Brian Dixon.

*The Jaguars' front-line receivers also continued to look good. Robinson continued to look good early in training camp, catching a long out pass in the first half of practice from Bortles. …

*Wide receiver Allen Hurns caught a 20-yard pass down the right side of the field from reserve quarterback Chad Henne in early drill in practice. Hurns looked good throughout practice, later catching a 20-yard pass across the middle from Bortles. …

*Running backs Leonard Fournette, Chris Ivory and Corey Grant all looked quick and fast in early drills, with Grant twice breaking long runs up the middle. …

*Unrestricted free agent cornerback A.J. Bouye had a pass defensed covering wide receiver Marqise Lee, who later had a short gain on a quick pass from Bortles. Lee also had a long pass over the middle from Bortles. …

*Second-year defensive end Yannick Ngakoue has a nice pass rush move up the middle for what likely would have been a sack just past the halfway point of practice. …

*Rookie cornerback Jalen Myrick had a pass breakup that nearly turned into an interception by linebacker Hayes Pullard. …

PLAY OF THE DAY

This came from rookie wide receiver Keenan Cole, who turned in enough big plays on Friday that it was hard to separate one from the others. Cole's best play may have come on a long pass down the right sideline from Henne; Cole reached out with his right hand and caught the pass one-handed for a 30-yard gain. Cole, an undrafted collegiate free agent from Kentucky Wesleyan, also had long receptions down the sidelines from Allen and Henne on Friday.

QUOTABLE

"This is preparing to play Houston [in Week 1], to make us feel like that's a lot easier than what it is. Going against each other like this, at this temperature out there – with this heat out there – it's making men of us all."
--Jaguars safety Barry Church
