Rookie defensive end Austen Lane sat down with jaguars.com this week and discussed a variety of topics including his favorite food, what he would sing on American Idol and his worst habit.

Favorite TV show growing up
We didn't have cable or anything like that, so it was always like TGIF. I forgot what shows were on there. I didn't watch much TV to tell you the truth. It was more being outside because I live in the country."

Favorite movie
Reservoir Dogs

Favorite meal
Anything my grandma makes is pretty good. I'm not too picky but anything she makes is good. I like so much stuff, but probably at Thanksgiving when she makes turkey and stuffing. I'm a fan of that."

What is a talent you wish you had?
I wish I could play instruments really good, like the drums. I wish I could be musically gifted. I play the saxophone a little bit, but besides that not too much.

Dream date
I'm dating somebody right now, but if I had a dream date it would be Eva Mendes.

Do you have any superstitions?
Not really. I'm not too superstitious, but before I enter the field every day for practice I'll say something really quick and I kind of pat my head just to wake me up. Besides that nothing too major.

Who is the most influential person in your life?
That's two people. My grandma and my mother. They've been tremendous in my life.

What would you sing if you went on American Idol?
Oh man, I'd probably go back old school and sing I'll Fly Away. It's like a church song. I'd probably sing that one. It's pretty much the only one I could sing decently.

What are you reading now?
I read a little bit, but I don't have much time right now. Probably the thing I'm reading right now is my playbook.

Worst habit
That's a good question. I'm probably a sloppy eater. When I'm really hungry I don't have the proper etiquette. I'm always throwing it all over the place on the table. So definitely my eating habits.
