JACKSONVILLE – Travis Hunter's rookie contract is officially official.
That's a good thing for Hunter and the Jaguars.
Hunter, the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner, on Sunday signed his rookie contract with the Jaguars. The team announced the signing late on Sunday afternoon.
"It feels great," he said. "I'm very excited and ready to get to work."
Hunter, the No. 2 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, is expected to play extensively at wide receiver and cornerback. He is trying to become the first player to do so on a regular basis in nearly three decades.
"It's a blessing," he said Sunday. "I'm very excited to be at a place where they let me be myself and do what I do."
The Jaguars' '25 offseason program ended with the end of '25 minicamp on June 12. The Jaguars are scheduled to begin '25 Training Camp at the Miller Electric Center in late July, with veterans reporting July 22.
"I'm just getting the work done that needs to be done," Hunter said, adding of his offseason plans: "First, I'm going on a trip with the guys, with some of my teammates to still get some work in. We're going to be working. I'm going to just be working my butt off to be ready for training camp – and doing little fishing.
"You have to put the work in. Don't let anybody stop the grind and don't get too sick of the process."
