Hayward OK to practice

Defensive end Reggie Hayward has been medically cleared to begin practicing and was expected to be on the practice field on Saturday morning when the Jaguars were to begin training camp. Hayward, of course, is recovering from Achilles surgery. He sustained a season-ending Achilles injury in last year's season-opener.

Head coach Jack Del Rio confirmed on Saturday morning that three players have been assigned to the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list. Those players are quarterback Quinn Gray (ankle), tight end George Wrighster (labrum) and fourth-round draft pick Brian Smith (hip).

A player may be removed from PUP at any time during training camp or the preseason. If he remains on PUP after final cuts are made, he'll have a chance to be placed on the active roster between weeks six and nine of the regular season. If he's not activated then, he must be placed on injured reserve for the remainder of the season.

The Jaguars were to practice at 10:15 a.m. and seven p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The first full-pads practice is set for seven p.m. on Monday and it will feature the Oklahoma drill.
