The Jaguars signed veteran free agent guard Chris Liwienski on Thursday and waived quarterback Paul Smith, who had signed with the team as an undrafted rookie free agent in April.

Liwienski, 32, started 14 of his 16 games at left guard for the Miami Dolphins last season after signing as an unrestricted free agent. The 6-5, 325-pounder enters his 10th NFL season after starting six games in 2006 with the Arizona Cardinals and his first eight seasons (1998-2005) in Minnesota. He was originally drafted by Detroit in the seventh round of the 1998 draft out of Indiana but was waived in the preseason. He has started 94 of his 126 career games. He will wear jersey number 68.

Friday night's scrimmage will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. and will be open to the public. There is no charge for admission or parking. Brian Sexton, Jeff Lageman and Cole Pepper will broadcast the scrimmage live on WOKV AM & FM (690, 106.5) from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Free parking will be available in Lots M, N, J, C & D.
