Jaguars re-sign LS Overton

Overton-Extension-TW

JACKSONVILLE – Matt Overton is returning to the Jaguars.

Overton, a seven-year veteran long snapper who has played in 20 Jaguars games over the last two seasons, re-signed with the team on Wednesday. The team announced the signing Wednesday afternoon.

Overton was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on March 13 at 4 p.m. EST.

Overton (6-feet-1, 243 pounds), a 2013 Pro Bowl long snapper for the Indianapolis Colts, played in the final 11 games for the Jaguars last season. He signed with the team after long snapper Carson Tinker was placed on season-ending injured reserve.

Overton played in nine games for the Jaguars in 2017, joining the team after spending his first five NFL seasons (2012-2016) with Indianapolis. He replaced Tinker that season after Tinker sustained a season-ending preseason knee injury, then was placed on injured reserve after sustaining a shoulder injury that November in a victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Tinker and Overton are currently the two long snappers on the Jaguars' roster.
