Jaguars sign third-year TE Fendi Onobun

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed third-year tight end Fendi Onobun and waived/injured rookie tight end Reggie Jordan (hamstring), the club announced today. 

Onobun, 6-6, 260, spent three weeks on the Jaguars active roster in 2011.  He was originally a sixth-round draft pick of the St. Louis Rams in 2010 and has also spent time with Seattle, Washington, Buffalo and Chicago.  He played in three games as a rookie for the Rams and had two receptions for 15 yards before he was placed on injured reserve.  He played in one game for the Jaguars in 2011.

A native of Houston, Texas, Onobun played one season of football at Houston after a four-year college basketball career at Arizona.  In his only season with the Cougars he played extensively on special teams and added two receptions for 33 yards and one touchdown.   He attended Alief High School in Texas where he was ranked as the No. 13 small forward prospect in the nation by Rivals.com 

Onobun will wear jersey number 48.
