JACKSONVILLE – Travis Hunter felt good in Week 1. Really good.
The Jaguars' one-sided victory in this past Sunday's regular-season opener marked his first game since last October, also marking a smooth transition back onto the field for the No. 2 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.
"I felt great," Hunter said Thursday as the AFC South-leading Jaguars (1-0) prepared to play the Denver Broncos (0-1) at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, Colo., Sunday at 4:05 p.m.
Hunter played 33 snaps in the Jaguars’ 34-10 victory Week 1 over the Cleveland Browns, with 29 snaps at cornerback and four at receiver. That continued the Jaguars' summer-long focus on getting Hunter – who played extensively as a rookie at corner and receiver – acclimated on defense.
Sunday's snaps were Hunter's first since Week 7 of the 2025 season, and he said he felt minimal rust.
"Just me getting on the football field and just getting back comfortable with myself, and it took me about a drive or two to realize I was playing football again," Hunter said.
Hunter was only targeted in coverage once against the Browns, which is normally a sign of a corner preventing open receivers.
"He moved around really good," Jaguars defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile said. "He didn't get a lot of ops, for sure, so that's usually a good thing at corner. Overall he really did a good job and his eyes, his feet, all that stuff, looked good.
"Getting back, first game, I thought that was a great start for him."
Hunter, when discussing Sunday's matchup with the Broncos, said his goal moving forward is to "just go out there and play football."
"Do what I do, and that's just be great on both sides of the ball," he said.
Week 2 will be a homecoming of sorts for Hunter, 2024 Heisman Trophy winner for the University of Colorado. Hunter travelled to Denver with the Jaguars for their 34-20 Week 16 victory over the Broncos, but Sunday will be his first processional game there.
"It felt like I just did my job to be able to go to the next level and be able to go back there and play," Hunter said.

NOTABLE
Five Jaguars players were listed as limited on Thursday's second injury report of the week. Running back LeQuint Allen Jr. (hip), wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. (shoulder), wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (thumb), right tackle Cole Van Lanen (knee) and linebacker Foye Oluokun (wrist). All were listed similarly on Wednesday's injury report, with Van Lanen, Meyers and Allen playing against the Browns after practicing limited last week. Cornerback Christian Braswell was added to the injury report with a knee issue and practiced full Thursday.
NOTABLES
There was much to like about Jaguars rookie left guard Emmanuel Pregnon's NFL debut last week, with offensive coordinator Grant Udinski lauding Pregnon Thursday. "He's a guy that wants to be right and wants to understand the details of the different things we're putting into a game plan or the different adjustments that [quarterback] Trevor [Lawrence] may get to at the line of scrimmage," Udinski said Thursday. "To have that type of approach as a rookie, really the process that he has every single week to stick to learning the things he needs to learn, to try to understand a defense, understand how we're attacking defense, understand our adjustments off of that, it's a lot mentally. Then to be able to go out there physically and do it, that speaks to his work and his effort along with the athlete and the football player that he is." Pregnon, a third-round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft, is one of just two Jaguars rookies to start on offense in Week 1 under Head Coach Liam Coen era. Hunter started at receiver in Week 1 last season.
NOTABLE
Campanile is very familiar with Broncos wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. Campanile was with the Miami Dolphins for the first three seasons (2021-2023) of Waddle's career, with Campanile joining the Jaguars in 2025 and the Broncos acquiring Waddle this past offseason. "He's a hell of a player," Campanile said. "Extremely hard worker, but a really good player overall." Waddle, a 1,000-yard receiver in 2021-2023 with 26 touchdown receptions in his first five NFL seasons, caught one pass for two yards in a 31-10 Broncos loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1. "He gives them a guy that can stretch the field a little bit, a guy that's caught the ball over the middle of the field throughout the course of his career and a guy that can do things after the catch with the ball," Campanile said.
