8 Games down....5-3....Bye week behind us and 8 games to go....OK now that everyone is caught up let's start the second half of this NFL season....So far this year we've developed a theme of winning close games at the end....People wonder why, well it's because we're trying to keep people in their seats in hopes that they'll go to the merchandise stands and buy my jersey or my bobble belly....duh!....I've worked it out with coach and the players and so far it's working...what can i say i'm a marketing guru....But i don't want to toot my own horn...that's not what this journal is about....so let's move on to exactly what this journal IS about.
I had a great bye week..it was relaxing and it was refreshing...but as they say..."What happens on bye week, stays on bye week!" I know that doesn't really help you or this journal out but it saves me from getting into trouble....and after all aren't we all here to make sure my needs are met....Speaking of needs...can you please hold on a sec.....................................................................................................OK i'm back...i had to use the little Jaguars room....Ok so it was a tree....but don't worry it's good for the tree's health....I know this because the tree looks very healthy all the time....it's one of those indoor trees that sits in the corner of my office....I've been using it for a while and it's still as green as the day i bought it....I just don't understand why it doesn't grow very much!
So we're into November and we're in 1st place tied with the Colts....This week we have Detroit coming to town and lucky for you fans it's a home game....So is next week which means you'll all get to see me 2 weeks in a row....That is of course if you BUY A TICKET!!!! Folks let's be serious here for a minute....How many other NFL teams that are in first place are blacking out a game this week?....I can't think of ANY!!!!....We've been over this topic so many times in this journal that it's tough to find new ways to try to explain how important the home crowd is for the team....We have a stadium that holds 75,000 fans....This CAN be a huge advantage for us....The only problem is it hasn't seen 75,000 fans in quite a while...No wait it just had about 80,000 people in it 2 weeks ago for the Georgia-Florida game....I understand that is only 1 game each year and for some people it takes an entire year to recover from the previous year's game....But we're only talking about 10 Jaguars home games.....And if i'm going to be honest with you it's only 8 games that really matter....You're probably wondering why i get so upset about blackouts....
(Cue the sappy melodramatic music)....Earlier this year i visited a young girl who told me how she couldn't come to games in person and could only watch them on TV....She told me how much she likes seeing me, i mean the Jaguars on TV....She asked me to do whatever i could to make sure that all the games were on TV so that she could see them....I promised her i would do it....I've failed on that promise 3 times now this year....I tried to call her to talk but all she did was cry on the phone....Her poor little heart is broken from not getting to see me, i mean the Jaguars on TV....So if you could find it in your hearts to buy a ticket to a home game this year....we have 4 left....You'ld be helping a precious little girl fullfill a dream of hers........to see me!!!!!
Well folks i gotta run....the so called King of the Jungle is coming to town and i need to get some things ready for him....most likely a beat down is in order....i'm predicting a win of course but it will be close....With Garrard making his first start this season and second in his career i have full confidence that the team will rally around him....On the offense look for Fred and Jimmy to have big games and look for the defense to shut down the Lions almost completely....They may give up one field goal....The only thing that could save the Lions this week is if their special teams returns a couple kicks for touchdowns....HA...like that could happen!
