JACKSONVILLE – Jaguars Media members Kainani Stevens, Brian Sexton, J.P. Shadrick and John Oehser share thoughts on the Jaguars’ 2025 schedule, which was released by the NFL Wednesday night.

Senior Writer John Oehser: First thought: Analyzing a schedule is a perennially difficult task, and it's impossible to know the real difficulty of a schedule until five or six weeks into a season; that's the reality in a league in which teams often change dramatically from season to season. Second thought: If you believe that teams in 2025 will be at least relatively similar to their 2024 versions, this '25 Jaguars schedule is tricky at the front end and more manageable on the back end. Five of the first seven games before a Week 8 bye are against teams with winning records last season and a sixth game in that stretch is on the road against the perennially tough San Francisco 49ers. The schedule remains tricky with two of the first three games after the bye against playoff teams from 2024 – AFC South rival Houston and the Los Angeles Chargers. The Jaguars then play six of their final seven games against teams that had losing records in 2024. In theory, if the Jaguars can stay around .500 through the first 10 games, they could have a chance to push for the postseason in December and January. That's the theory, but theories rarely hold when analyzing NFL schedules.

Senior Correspondent Brian Sexton: The first month of the schedule is the only thing you can interpret with confidence; there are just too many factors that can change from September to January. In this case, it's a really challenging start to the first season for Jaguars Head Coach Liam Coen and Co. It seems as if the NFL gave the Jaguars a game they should win on Opening Day against Carolina, a game they could/should win against the Houston Texans in Week 3 and a "let's see if you're ready to win this kind of game" on Monday Night Football against the Chiefs in Week 5. Sandwiched between are visits to Cincinnati to face Joe Burrow and to San Francisco. If they can come out of Week 5 in fairly good shape the back end of the schedule could set them up for success with four games against the Colts and Titans in the final six weeks. But, they have to get there first.

Senior Reporter/Editor J.P. Shadrick: The Jaguars' schedule is frontloaded with playoff teams before the Week 8 bye. A decent start is imperative to get to the stretch after the bye week with four of the next five games away – including two in that stretch in the Pacific time zone. The Jags finish with three of the last five games at home, and wrap with back-to-back division games. The Kansas City Chiefs game on Monday Night Football in Week 5 will be a great showcase for the organization against a perennial AFC power. The Los Angeles Rams game in London will have plenty of deep story lines. The Jaguars have the fourth-most mileage of any team in the league in 2025 with London on top of four trips to the Mountain and Pacific time zones.

Team Reporter/Producer Kainani Stevens: The Jaguars' 2025 schedule features some tough matchups right out of the gate, including a surprise primetime matchup against the Chiefs. The Jaguars will host the Chiefs on Monday Night Football October 6. That'll be another opportunity on the big stage to make a statement against one of the league's best teams. The Jags will rack up the travel miles this year going to London and then four separate trips to the West Coast. Fortunately, the longer trips seem to be spread fairly evenly throughout, which should help avoid any travel-related issues. The final six games feature AFC opponents and four of those are divisional games. If the Jaguars can avoid disaster in the first half of the season, the home stretch should give them the ability to make a playoff push in the AFC South.
