DC Anthony Campanile on DaVon Hamilton's Key Impact in the Jaguars' Defensive System

davon thurs insider

JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars on Thursday practiced at the Miller Electric Center.

DaVon Hamilton doesn't play a highlight position. At least not usually.

That doesn't make the veteran nose tackle unimportant to the Jaguars' defense – a point Campanile emphasized Thursday when discussing Hamilton and the Jaguars' run defense. The Jaguars enter Sunday third in the NFL against the run, allowing 86.9 yards per game.

"He is as big a part of that as anybody," Campanile said of Hamilton. "He does a lot of the dirty work. He plays double teams all day and he plays them as good as anybody I've been around. He's as good as anybody we've had, and he gives us the opportunity to do that and play with depth to the defense because that guy's able to two-gap people.

"That really comes down to selflessness."

Hamilton in a 30-29 overtime victory over the Raiders this past Sunday defensed a two-point pass by Raiders quarterback Geno Smith with :16 remaining in overtime, securing the Jaguars' victory. Campanile called the play "huge," also praising Hamilton as an interior defensive "technician."

Jacksonville, Fla. — Jaguars safety Andrew Wingard (42) during practice at the Miller Electric Center on November 5, 2025.

"For people who've got love for watching D-line play and guys playing blocks and whipping blocks, he has done a great job for us that way this year," Campanile said. "I love that dude. I think everybody here does." …

Rookie running back Bhayshul Tuten has emerged as a short-yardage option, rushing for a one-yard touchdown run against the Raiders. Tuten rushed nine times Sunday, five times on down-and-distance situations of three yards or fewer.

Udinski said Tuten's "strength and his contact balance" make him strong in short-yardage situations.

"You see a lot of yards after contact," Udinski said. "Very few times you see him finishing runs going backwards and that's huge at the goal line. It's especially apparent on those where you need one hard yard or a hard run and he goes out there, and he is able to get it on looks that aren't always clean.

"Often they've outnumbered you, so there's a guy there at the point of attack and you've got to be able to run right through a shoulder tackle, run right through an arm tackle. His strength and ability to accelerate on receiving the balls makes him an asset there."

The Jaguars on Thursday released the second of three injury reports for the week, with wide receiver Dyami Brown practicing full after practicing limited Wednesday with a concussion sustained Sunday.

The Jaguars hit the field Wednesday for Week 10 practice, gearing up for Sunday's AFC South Divisional matchup against the Houston Texans.

Wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. (ankle), tight end Hunter Long (hip/knee), guard Ezra Cleveland (knee/ankle) and cornerback Jourdan Lewis (neck) missed practice for a second consecutive day after sustaining injuries Sunday.

The following Jaguars players practiced limited Wednesday for a second consecutive day:

Wide receiver Tim Patrickand tight end Quintin Morris practiced full a second consecutive day after missing the victory over the Raiders with groin injuries.

Devin Lloyd – the AFC's Defensive Player of the Month for September – practiced full on Thursday for a second consecutive day after missing the last two games.

Campanile called the fourth-year veteran "a big part of everything we were able to do early in the year."

"Devin really is just capable of doing a lot of things, whether it's the pass coverage, the pass rush, playing in the box as a linebacker and then playing on the ball," Campanile. "It gives us a little bit more in terms of options, things that you can do. He definitely presents some problems for the offense, for sure." …

Farwell on Jaguars kicker Cam Little's relationship with teammates: "They love him to death. A lot of times when you have a specialist, they can be weird at times. He's one of the most popular guys on this team and from a specialist's perspective, that's not super normal. Everyone loves Cam. They love his personality. They love his focus when it comes to his craft. They know he puts more time than anybody and I think they just love him to death. There's something about this kid. You just love him to death." …
