Jakobi Meyers Talks First Impressions and Jaguars' Approach on Week 11 O-Zone Podcast

OZONE POD ARTICLE - MEYERS

JACKSONVILLEJakobi Meyers likes a lot about this situation.

The coaching. The teammates. The approach.

"Honestly, I just appreciate how much they pour into every little thing," he said.

Meyers, a seventh-year wide receiver who joined the Jaguars last week in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders, joined senior writer John Oehser for this O-Zone Podcast and discussed multiple topics – including his early impressions of a Jaguars team that is in postseason contention midway through its first season under Head Coach Liam Coen.

"The message when I first got here was they want guys who do things the right way, and they coach with that intent," he said. "Every route I run, if they don't like the detail, they tell me that and I appreciate that.

"We have everything we need here. There's a lot of opportunity here, which I'm excited about."

Added Meyers, "The first week, almost two weeks now, it has been a real cool experience. I've been enjoying every opportunity I've been given and they have been trusting me. I'm grateful to be here."

Meyers, who caught 87 passes for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns with the Raiders in 2024, caught three passes for 41 yards in his first game with the Jaguars – a 36-29 loss to the Houston Texans this past Sunday. He drew praise from coaches and teammates for his quick acclimation to and grasp of the offense.

"I have to give a big shoutout to the team," he said. "My teammates have been helpful. I feel like they can see when I'm stuck and they help me with the play. Or they just check and say, 'Are you good here?' Then I let them know.

"The coaches have been real good about getting me the information ahead of time, so I can be ready for the next day and know my responsibility. It's a grind. There's not a lot of opportunity for just catching up on sleep."

Meyers, too, discussed the Jaguars' approach this week as they prepare to play the Los Angeles Chargers at EverBank Stadium Sunday a week after a difficult road loss to the Texans.

"We're ready for sure – no hesitation, no doubt," he said. "We're going to be back. We've already flushed it, honestly. People talk about it here and there, but not as a concern or a worry – just to learn from it.

"That's the best place to be in, learning so it doesn't happen again and at the same time moving on and being ready for the next week coming up."
