Mock draft tracker 13.0: A week for variety

JACKSONVILLE – The consensus is no more. Not even close.

After several weeks with Michigan edge defender Aidan Hutchinson a near-unanimous projection to the Jaguars at No. 1 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, that changed this past week. The result?

A jaguars.com mock draft tracker with as much variety as at any point this offseason.

While Hutchinson was still the most popular projection at No. 1 in this week's 13th 2022 tracker, analysts also this week projected four other players to the Jaguars there: Alabama offensive tackle Evan Neal, North Carolina State offensive tackle Ikem Ekwonu, Georgia defensive lineman Travon Walker and Oregon edge defender Kayvon Thibodeaux.

"The Jaguars have a tough choice in front of them, but for now, I'll stick with the athletic, determined Hutchinson," Chad Reuter of NFL Media wrote.

Reuter was among 10 analysts projecting Hutchinson to the Jaguars, a group that also included Peter King of NBC Sports.

"Safest pick at a need position, and the kind of long-term cornerstone the Jaguars are crying out (for)," King wrote of Hutchinson, with Tom Fornelli of CBS writing: "Hutchinson has plenty of natural talent and has improved every season. The closer we get to the draft, the more people who seem to be convinced this will be the pick."

Walker, a versatile player with impressive athleticism and potential, also continued to emerge as a popular projection to the Jaguars at No. 1.

"Surprise! Many expect this pick to be Michigan edge Aidan Hutchinson, and understandably so. But in this case, the Jags project that this young man's NFL numbers will exceed his college ones," Charles Davis of NFL Media wrote.

Three analysts projected Neal to the Jaguars, including Pete Prisco of CBS Sports.

"They will strongly consider Aidan Hutchinson, but I think in the end they get another piece to help out Trevor Lawrence; he could play guard for a year if needed," Prisco wrote of Neal, with Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports writing: "Neal not only is the safe pick, but can be a franchise tackle for well over a decade."

Cam Mellor of Pro Football Network projected Thibodeaux to the Jaguars, with three more analysts projecting Ekwonu there.

"The Jaguars' offensive line in one offseason goes from a liability to a strength; Ikem Ekwonu will likely eventually replace Cam Robinson, but in 2021, he'll play alongside him," Adam Beasley of Pro Football Network wrote.
