Mock Draft Tracker 7.0: New Name Emerges

mock draft monday

JACKSONVILLE – A new name is emerging.

As free agency approaches with Wednesday's start of the 2023 NFL League Year, we continue to monitor how analysts project the Jaguars in Round 1 of the upcoming '23 NFL Draft.

The analysts this week remain very much divided on what the Jaguars will do with the No. 24 overall selection. But Clemson defensive tackle Brian Bresee was the selection there by three analysts included in this week's jaguars.com 2023 mock draft tacker 7.0.

"The Jaguars could afford to add more bodies to their defensive front, and Bresee would be an excellent value for them here," Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports wrote of Bresee, with Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz of USA Today writing: "It might be hard for him to pass up a tone-setting defensive lineman who can punish offenses that don't double-team him."

Two analysts projected Ohio State offensive tackle Dawand Jones to the Jaguars in Round 1.

"Jones is a massive (and intriguing) offensive tackle prospect at 6-feet-8 and 374 pounds," Fox Sports wrote, adding that "Jones shined at the Senior Bowl."

Two more projected Georgia tight end Darnell Washington there.

"This draft has to be all about giving [quarterback] Trevor Lawrence as many resources as possible; Washington is a rare athlete with limitless potential," Luke Easterling of USA Today Draft Wire wrote.

Tight end remained a popular Round 1 projection for the Jaguars with analysts also continuing to project Dalton Kincaid of Utah and Michael Mayer of Notre Dame at No. 24.

"Kincaid is a receiver trapped in a tight end's body, dominating at the catch point and with a massive catch radius; he'll win over the middle of the field as well as he wins along the sidelines," Cam Mellor of Pro Football Network wrote.

Pro Football Focus projected Georgia offensive tackle Broderick Jones to the Jaguars in Round 1.

"Another year of seasoning could have made Jones a top-five pick," PFF wrote. "He still may end up close to that range with his dominant physical skill set.

NOTE: The Jaguars are projected to hold the No. 25 selection in Round 1 of the 2023 NFL Draft. The Miami Dolphins have forfeited the No. 21 selection, so the Jaguars hold the 24th selection.
