Seventh annual Jaguars food drive underway

The seventh annual Jaguars Food Drive has begun with area Publix stores accepting non-perishable food items to help fight hunger on the First Coast. Last year's drive brought in over 28,000 pounds of food – enough for approximately 18,707 meals.

Fans are encouraged to stop by local Publix supermarkets Oct. 29 through Nov. 12. The ALLTEL Stadium game day collection takes place Nov. 11 when the Jaguars host the Bengals in a 1 p.m. game. Members of JagNet, the team's volunteer wives group, will begin accepting donations at the stadium's four main gates starting at 11:30 a.m. The Jaguars cheerleaders, The Roar, will also accept donations outside the Touchdown Club West location.

Fans who bring five or more cans to the game day collection or to the Publix stores will receive a commemorative 11x17 special edition poster. Jaguars players will be at the following Publix locations to help promote this year's drive:

Thur., Nov. 6, 6:00-8:00 PM; Aaron and Umme Beasley; Publix Store 433 – 1444 Beach Blvd. Ste. 6

Tues., Nov. 6, 6:00-8:00 PM; Kyle and Kristi Brady; Publix Store 552 – 670 Marsh Landing Parkway

Thur., Nov. 8, 6:00-8:00 PM; Jeff and Amy Smith; Publix Store 309 – 12200 San Jose Blvd.

The LSS Second Harvest Food Bank is again serving as the area's central resource for receiving and distributing this year's donated food items.
