JACKSONVILLE – This was a light day by design.
The Jaguars practiced shorter in what was close to a walkthrough session on Day 16 of 2025 Training Camp, with Head Coach Liam Coen afterward still uncertain about playing time for Preseason Week 2.
"We're still kind of working through it," Coen said.
Coen spoke to the media early Friday afternoon following an hour practice at the Miller Electric Center – the final practice before the Jaguars play the New Orleans Saints at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, La., in a Preseason Week 2 game Sunday.
"We're going to go meet about it in the next half hour," Coen said when asked if he knew if – and how extensively – starters will play Sunday. "We'll have a better idea. We just have to get a whole totality of the injuries. We went pretty hard Tuesday and Thursday, so we're going to meet on that."
Coen added that there's a possibility the starters may play Sunday.
"There's a chance," he said. "I don't really want to do too many 'You're playing, you're not playing,' that kind of deal. If we are putting [quarterback] Trevor [Lawrence in the game], we make sure we're protected and we have the right guys in front. Same with the runners, things like that. Just making sure that we're not putting people in vulnerable spots because we are injured."
Also: Rookie wide receiver/defensive back Travis Hunter did not practice Friday as what Coen called a "precautionary" measure with an upper body issue.
"We'll figure that out," Coen said when asked if Hunter will play Sunday. "We don't know yet."
Hunter, who has alternated between offense and defense in most recent practices, stood to the side Friday with the offense and wide receivers coach Edgar Bennett.
"That's what they're supposed to do when they're hurt – stay locked in," Coen said. "If they can't go, we want them to make sure they're locked in, getting all the calls, understanding the call and be able to watch and execute in their minds."

Coen on Friday also discussed the offense's performance in a scrimmage situation Thursday, noting that the offense scored a touchdown on an early 14-play drive before struggling with penalties thereafter.
"I thought we did some good things," Coen said, "but the issue that has crept up a number of times has been the pre-snap [penalties]."
Coen also noted the offense had between six-to-eight dropped passes Thursday.
"That's fatigue," Coen said. That's lack of concentration when you're getting fatigued and tired. Every time we come out, they go hard. Tuesday was our biggest volume day of camp thus far, and you could see even with the off day Wednesday, some guys were still feeling the effects of it. I thought it was still some decent back and forth."
The offensive line featured multiple starting combinations Thursday, with five players working with the first team at left tackle:
- Walker Little
- Chuma Edoga
- Patrick Mekari
- Wyatt Milum
- Fred Johnson

"It's just giving people opportunities to see what they can do with each group and also filling in and making sure that we're able to finish the scrimmage, and it's not a mess," Coen said. "They all had moments, and they've all been able to do some positive things. Whether it's a swing tackle or whomever, consistency is the key. I was pleased with the guys being able to step up and take extra reps."
"It's still competition, If we can't have depth and competition, then nothing else will matter. We're not just giving away spots. Everybody has to earn it. When it comes time to solidify those five, that time will happen. We just want to continue to see what's the best five. That's our job as coaches to make sure we're putting the best five out there no matter who it is, no matter what year they are, and how long they've been in the NFL.
"We may take a little bit longer on that."
