JACKSONVILLE – Each week during the 2025 season, Jaguars "experts" – Frank Frangie, Jeff Lageman, Brent Martineau, John Oehser, Brian Sexton, J.P. Shadrick and Kainani Stevens – will analyze the following day's Jaguars matchup.
Up this week:
Frank Frangie, Radio Voice of the Jaguars
- The Jaguars will win if: They play with the edge we saw a week ago. That game was their template: Play with passion/edge, rush the passer, run the ball the entire game, hit enough plays in the passing game to keep the defense honest. THAT is the Jaguars' formula.
- The Cardinals will win if: They stuff the run and change that formula. The Cardinals will win if they turn it into a track meet. They need Brissett, one of the NFL's best backup quarterbacks, to have an exceptional game.
- As Frangie sees it: The Jaguars have the better team and they found something last week. They rediscovered that edge that makes them so dangerous. If they take care of the ball and don't beat themselves, they should win.
Jeff Lageman, Jaguars analyst and former Jaguars defensive end
- The Jaguars will win if: They carry over the level of concentration, attention to detail and physical nature they brought against the Chargers. The Jaguars can play with anybody when they do so and the challenge is to have that same level every week. Running backs Travis Etienne Jr. and Bhayshul Tuten are becoming a great combination and must be at the heart of the game plan again this week.
- The Cardinals will win if: Their defense recovers from allowing 85 points in the last two weeks. Cardinals All-Pro safety Budda Baker is a tremendous player and will spend plenty of time around the line of scrimmage to fortify their run defense. If the Cardinals limit the run, linebacker Josh Sweat and tackle Calais Campbell will be able to pin their ears back and get after Lawrence.
- As Lageman sees it: This game will challenge the Jaguars' pass defense. Brissett has averaged more passing yards per game than any other NFL quarterback in his five starts and he has a top tight end in McBride that will be highly targeted. McBride leads or co-leads the NFL in every statistical category for tight ends and will challenge Jaguars defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile to come up with ways to keep him from becoming a game wrecker. The Cardinals have an injured running back room. Expect them to come out with a high-flying aerial attack even with Marvin Harrison Jr. out with appendicitis. Takeaways and time of possession will be needed to allow the Jaguars to win.

Brent Martineau, Action Sports Jax Sports Director
- The Jaguars will win if: They hold Arizona to 23 points or less. The Cardinals are 1-6 this season when scoring 23 or fewer in a game. The lone win came against the New Orleans Saints in the season opener. Arizona has allowed 85 points in the last two games, so I wouldn't expect a low-scoring contest. If the Jaguars' defense puts together another big effort like last week – and holds a pretty good pass offense in check – they will win.
- The Cardinals will win if: They win the turnover battle and force the Jaguars to throw more than they run. The Jaguars are coming off a game in which they rushed 47 times. If the Jaguars get the run going, the Cardinals are in trouble. Arizona is even on the season in turnover ratio, but the Cardinals must win that part of the game to win Sunday.
- As Martineau sees it: Are the Jaguars about to get rolling? What a performance last Sunday – and while that will be hard to duplicate, they are playing with confidence. The Jaguars have scored 91 points in the last 10 quarters (plus OT against the Raiders). The Jaguars will beat the Cardinals for the first time in 20 years, 27-19 final.
John Oehser, jaguars.com senior writer
- The Jaguars will win if: They are more physical and run well. The Jaguars through 10 games this season usually have won when they have been the more physical team – and when they run effectively. That's their formula and will be their formula Sunday.
- The Cardinals will win if: They force Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence into mistakes – and if Cardinals tight end Trey McBride dominates the game. Lawrence, while improving in Coen's offense, has had too many "uh-oh" moments this season. If he avoids those Sunday, the Jaguars should win.
- As Oehser sees it: This is an important matchup for the Jaguars, who must show they can follow an uber-impressive performance against the Chargers with a winning one on the road against a struggling team. The guess here is this one is decided late, with the Jaguars needing – and getting – a big play in a big moment.

Brian Sexton, jaguars.com senior correspondent
- The Jaguars will win if: Their defensive line can do to Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett what it did to Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert in a 35-6 Jaguars victory in Jacksonville this past Sunday. Herbert never felt comfortable Sunday, and the results showed as Herbert completed 10 passes. Brissett is coming off an NFL-record 47-completion game. The Jaguars' defensive line played angry Sunday. While it was most apparent in defensive ends Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker, you also saw it from tackle DaVon Hamilton and ends Dawuane Smoot, Danny Striggow and B.J. Green II. An angry defensive line will win the day in Arizona.
- The Cardinals will win if: The Jaguars just show up Sunday. Brissett is the backup. They're also down their top two running backs plus a host of other players on both sides of the ball. They're in the middle of a very disappointing season, but they still have a few impact players who can ruin your day. We've seen our share of the Jaguars playing happy following a big victory and losing. If they're still happy with themselves after last Sunday when they arrive at State Farm Stadium, they're going to lose.
- As Sexton sees it: I think THESE Jaguars are not THOSE Jaguars. Last Sunday could be a transformative win for a team in its first season under Head Coach Liam Coen. But the Jaguars must prove it by winning on the road against a team that has lost seven of its last eight games – and that has allowed more than 40 points on consecutive Sunday afternoons. I think they will.

J.P. Shadrick, jaguars.com senior reporter
- The Jaguars will win if: They play with the same edge for 60 minutes they had last week. They played their best all-around game of the season Sunday and it came by going back to basics on offense by running the football – plus good, aggressive defensive play.
- The Cardinals will win if: The Jaguars underestimate Brissett and McBride, a duo that can hurt any defense. If the Cardinals force the Jaguars into bad down-and-distance situations and force a couple turnovers, they have a chance.
- As Shadrick sees it: This is the week we will find out if the Jaguars are mature enough to handle their business. The Cardinals are beat up, and the Jaguars must handle business against an inferior opponent the week after blowing out the Chargers. They handled adversity well after a loss to the Texans two weeks ago, but can they handle success?
Kainani Stevens, Jaguars team reporter
- The Jaguars will win if: They establish the run and continue to play mistake-free football. Etienne and Tuten were the reasons the Jaguars' offense was so dominant against the Chargers. They avoided offensive penalties, allowing them to play freely and stay on pace with the game plan.
- The Cardinals will win if: They keep the game close until the fourth quarter and McBride has an explosive day. The Jaguars had issues covering Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers and McBride has the ability to be a game wrecker on Sunday. Keeping things close throughout will give Arizona the best chance to sneak away with a win late.
- As Stevens sees it: Execution is the key. The Jaguars at the end of the day are a better team than the Cardinals. If the Jaguars take things seriously like they did last week, they should win in a blowout.
