JACKSONVILLE – Tuesday was breezy and cool.

Add in a familiar face making a welcome return – and add in a back-to-basics day for the head coach – and you couldn't call Day 5 of Jaguars 2018 Training Camp routine.

It was anything but, and the fifth day of '18 camp was notable for more reasons than Head Coach Doug Marrone moving practice to the afternoon.

The Jaguars on Tuesday worked for about two hours under gray, breezy skies in 82-degree temperatures, practicing at 2:30 p.m. rather than 10:30 a.m. because Marrone wanted to ensure as full a practice as possible on a day that featured multiple roster moves early in the day. The practice was closed to the public midway through because of the threat of lightning, but the team finished the workout.

The day's highlight: the return of All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who missed the first four practices of '18 camp following the birth last week of his daughter. The third-year veteran arrived at TIAA Bank Field Tuesday afternoon; he was expected to be worked in to practice slowly, but worked early in 11-on-11 drills and worked with the starters in team drills throughout practice.

Marrone spent the practice in an unusual role that at the same time had a familiar feel, working with the offensive line during individual and position drills. Marrone had coached the Jaguars' offensive line in 2015 and for the first 14 games of 2016 while serving as the team's associate head coach.

Here's a look at Day 5 practice:

STANDING OUT

*Quarterback Blake Bortles had a consistent day Tuesday despite sporadically wet conditions. A highlight for the offense was a touchdown pass from Bortles to wide receiver Keelan Cole in a late red-zone drill, a play on which Ramsey appeared to be covering Cole early in the play. …

*Bortles also had impressive passes to Cole, Greene and wide receiver Jaydon Mickens Tuesday, with the offense working efficiently throughout. …

*Defensive tackle Marcell Dareus continued to stand out early in camp, looking quick and strong – and using his leverage well – in pass-rushing drills. …

*Rookie defensive end/tackle Taven Bryan looked good in spots in pass-rushing drills, winning with a power move on one repetition and getting blocked on others. …

*Second-year defensive end Hunter Dimick looked quick and got good penetration in pass-rush drills. …

*Running back T.J. Yeldon continued to flash early in camp, catching a short pass and breaking loose for a 15-yard run in 11-on-11 work. …

*Reserve running back Tim Cook also continued to run hard early in camp. …

*Safety Jarrod Wilson broke up a pass from Bortles to Cole in red-zone work late in practice; Bortles found tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins for a touchdown in the back of the end zone on the ensuing play. …

PLAY OF THE DAY

This came late in practice, when fourth-year wide receiver Rashad Greene Sr. leaped high for a pass from reserve quarterback Cody Kessler. Greene made the reception over cornerback Tre Herndon, coming down with his feet in bounds. Greene has had a solid first five days of camp, also turning in a highlight play early Thursday with a long reception from Bortles.

INJURY WATCH

Wide receivers Marqise Lee (unidentified) and Donte Moncrief (ankle) worked on the side for a second consecutive day Tuesday after sustaining injuries in practice late last week. Marrone said earlier this week the injuries weren't thought serious.

Defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. (shoulder) remained on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

The Jaguars early Tuesday signed defensive lineman Michael Dunn and tight end DeAndre Goolsby, waiving/injured offensive lineman Brandon Thomas and waiving long snapper Andrew East.

Tight end Niles Paul worked on the side in practice Tuesday, and veteran linebacker Telvin Smith was excused from practice for personal reasons.

NOTABLE

*Rookie Leon Jacobs worked with the first team at strongside linebacker for a fifth consecutive practice to start camp. …

*The first-team offensive line continued on Tuesday to be left tackle Cam Robinson, left guard Andrew Norwell, center Brandon Linder, right guard A.J. Cann and right tackle Jermey Parnell. …
