JACKSONVILLE – Practice stayed light, with intensity on the way.
The Jaguars on Wednesday morning held a second consecutive comparatively short, light practice. This was Day 18 of Jaguars 2025 Training Camp at the Miller Electric Center, with a scheduled change in venue expected Thursday.
The joint practice is at hand.
"It definitely raises the intensity," Jaguars defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile said Wednesday.
The Jaguars, after practicing in shorts in a shortened practiced the last two days, are scheduled to hold their lone "joint" practice of '25 camp Thursday. This will be with the Miami Dolphins at the Dolphins' practice facility in Miami Gardens, Fla.
"It just allows us to go out there and see somebody else," Jaguars wide receiver Dyami Brown said.
"It gets us prepared and it gives us a different look as well. Going against our defense every day, we kind of would know what they could think at the time, but going against somebody else and how we will see things from a different structure kind of helps us as well."
The Jaguars and Dolphins will play a Preseason Week 3 game at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., Saturday at 7:00 p.m. ET – the final preseason game for both teams. Jaguars Head Coach Liam Coen said Tuesday he doesn't yet know how he will handle playing time in Saturday's game.
NFL teams in recent seasons have considered joint practices on par with preseason games in terms of regular-season preparation for front-line players.
"Joint practices always have a great energy, in my opinion," Campanile said. "It's great anytime you're going against somebody else. You get the opportunity to see your team against a different opponent and that excites the guys."
"They're usually physical or exciting and the guys are always excited to get out there competing against somebody else. I like that. I think it's a good thing."
Also on Wednesday, Campanile addressed a safety position that has been one of the more competitive positions in '25 camp with Eric Murray and Darnell Savage listed as co-starters – and with Andrew Wingard and Antonio Johnson also listed as co-starters.
"Those guys are still competing," Campanile said. "This joint will be great for that, for us to see some stuff there. This game will be great for us to see some stuff there, hopefully. We're going to keep the competition live all the time and we just have a little bit more to see here in camp."

Offensive coordinator Grant Udinksi on joint practices:
"It comes down to the competition. It's great for the guys. An opportunity to compete against somebody else, against a different scheme, against different looks, against different pressures, and then ultimately, get an evaluation on us as an offense, us as a staff, how well coached we are, the players individually winning their one-on-one matchups. It can be a good benchmark really to see how you compete."
PLAY OF THE DAY
Wednesday's shorter practice didn't feature a slew of big plays, but a highlight came from a player who has been solid throughout camp. Second-year cornerback Jarrian Jones, who has stood out with big plays in multiple practices, broke up a pass from quarterback Trevor Lawrence to wide receiver Dyami Brown. Brown appeared to have a possible touchdown in the back of the end zone, but Jones made an aggressive physical hit and separated the ball from Brown for the pass breakup.
