MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Trevor Lawrence likes the big-picture view.
That's the view the Jaguars' starting quarterback took as he assessed his 2025 Training Camp and preseason, which in a very real sense came to an end Thursday in what he called a "sloppy" joint practice with the Miami Dolphins.
Lawrence on Thursday discussed the past month – and not just one day.
"I feel good," he said.
Lawrence, entering his fifth season as the Jaguars' starting quarterback, won't play in the preseason finale against the Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens Saturday. Head Coach Liam Coen following Thursday's practice said the Jaguars' starters won't play Saturday after playing three series in the first two preseason games.
"There are some guys that are going to be playing this weekend that are fighting for roster spots," Coen said.
That made Thursday's work the last against an opponent for Lawrence and the starting offense before they play host to the Carolina Panthers in a Week 1 game at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville September 7.

"I think the work we put in will show during the season, the work we put in during camp," Lawrence said.
The first- and second-team units from both teams played extensively Thursday, with Lawrence throwing an early red-zone touchdown pass to wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. and also connecting on a 43-yard completion in a late team drill. Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick intercepted Lawrence in early red-zone work.
"Today wasn't our best showing, but [Offensive Coordinator] Grant [Udinski] made a great point to the quarterbacks after practice," Lawrence said. "At the end of the day, we're not going to be judged on how today went. This is just today. You put it in a box, you learn from it, you move on. That doesn't determine what we do in Week 1 versus Carolina. It's just an accumulation of all the days and taking all the information in and learning from it, growing from it, and understanding that it's all making us better to get us to a place to where by Week 1, we're ready to go. We're counting down the days now.
"There are not many more practices left. So, he made a great point of just making every rep count, and that doesn't mean that it's going to be perfect but really learning from it and being focused and dialed in and having a standard for how we play."
Lawrence, who completed 14 of 17 passes for 119 yards and a touchdown in three preseason series, entered training camp focused on improving in his first year in Coen's system after spending the early part of the offseason rehabilitating from season-ending surgery on his non-throwing shoulder last December.
"Physically, I feel very good," he said. "Shoulder, haven't had any issues. Rest of my body feels good. I think I've thrown it really well in camp. I really feel like I'm throwing it well and just got to continue that going into Week 1.
"Coach has done a great job with the camp schedule. He has pushed us, but he has kept us fresh enough to where we still get good work and guys are ready to roll and feel fresh."

NOTABLE MOMENTS FROM JOINT PRACTICE
- Jaguars defensive tackles Maason Smith and Arik Armstead practiced in pads together for the first time in '25 camp Thursday, with both returning to practice early this week in two lighter practices before the team traveled to South Florida. Smith, a second-round selection by the Jaguars in the 2024 NFL Draft, spent the first weeks of '25 camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Armstead, an 11-year veteran moving inside after playing end in his first Jaguars season last season, missed most of early '25 camp with a back issue.
"It was ups and downs, but it was a good day," Smith said. "We started fast and we're continuing to grow as a defense, an offense and a team."
Coen on Thursday said the difference defensively is "absolutely" evident with Smith and Armstead.
"You felt them [Wednesday] as well in practice," Coen said. "We weren't in a padded deal. We had the spiders on, but you definitely felt them a little bit more. You felt our size inside a little bit more. We stopped the run fairly well [Thursday] from what I understand. It's nice to have those guys back in. They're long, big, physical dudes so we know what they can do. What Arik can do in a lot of ways even though we haven't seen it, but Maason, man, he's a second-year player and needs as many reps as possible so this is great work for him."
