JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars today named Dan Edwards, an original Jaguars executive who has exclusively led the Jaguars' communications department throughout the existence of the franchise, to a new role as Senior Vice President of Jacksonville Tradition and Alumni.

Edwards, who prior to today held the title of Senior Vice President of Communications, is a 27-year veteran of the Jaguars who arrived in Jacksonville in 1994, shortly after the NFL granted the city an expansion franchise in late 1993. In his new position, Edwards will focus on building alliances, programs, brands and more that will illuminate and market the history, alumni and colorful moments of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

A resident of Jacksonville for nearly 30 years, Edwards will also be true to the "Jacksonville" portion of his new title with a commitment to initiatives that will celebrate and strengthen the bond the team and its fans have shared since the inaugural 1995 season.

"There has been no better servant to the Jaguars and the Jacksonville community than Dan Edwards," said Mark Lamping, president of the Jacksonville Jaguars. "The Jaguars were extremely fortunate as an expansion team to recruit Dan as a young PR professional to Jacksonville. But, anyone who knows Dan – current players, alumni, coaches, colleagues, league officials and many others – will be the first to say that where we really lucked out is being able to call Dan a neighbor and friend.

"That's why Dan will be perfect for this new and important opportunity. Dan has a passion for the Jaguars and love for our hometown of Jacksonville that will bring a new dimension to everything we do, and want to do, during what is undeniably an exciting time for our fans and franchise."

Edwards has been with the Jaguars for 27 years, and for 37 seasons in the league overall. He joined the Jaguars as executive director of communications in May of 1994, bringing 10 seasons of NFL experience with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Miami Dolphins and the league office. He was promoted to vice president in 2003 and to senior vice president in 2010. Edwards is one of six current Jaguars staff members who have been with the franchise since its first year in 1994.

Edwards began his NFL career as a public relations intern in the NFL office in New York after receiving a scholarship from NFL Charities. He spent the 1984 football season working in publicity for the Miami Dolphins, who played in Super Bowl XIX that year, before joining the Steelers.

During Edwards' nine years with the Steelers, the last seven as public relations director, the team's public relations staff received the Pete Rozelle Award from the Pro Football Writers of America. Edwards has worked with the NFL staff at 27 Super Bowls and one Pro Bowl.

Prior to entering the NFL, Edwards worked in professional baseball with the Eugene (Ore.) Emeralds, then a Class A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds.

Edwards received his undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Oregon, and a master's in sports administration/facility management from Ohio University. Edwards also attended the NFL-Stanford Program for Managers at Stanford University, and for 10 years served as an adjunct professor in sport communication at the University of North Florida.

Amy Palcic, formerly of the Houston Texas, joins the Jaguars today as the team's vice president of football communications, assuming the senior PR role that Edwards previously held. Edwards will report to Lamping while Palcic will report to both head coach Urban Meyer and general manager Trent Baalke.

Palcic joins the Jaguars after spending eight years with the Houston Texans, most recently as vice president of communications. Palcic served as the chief spokesperson and led the public relations, football communications and corporate communications efforts for the Texans. Palcic's team was selected as winners of the 2017 Pete Rozelle Award, recognizing the top NFL public relations team by the Professional Football Writers of America. She was the first director to win the award in their first year as well as the first woman to win the award.

In 2019, Palcic was named one of Women In Sports and Events (WISE) Women of Inspiration and Houston Business Journal's Women Who Mean Business. She also was named one of PR News' Top Women in PR in 2017.

Palcic joined the Texans after spending time as the vice president of public affairs for George Faine Enterprises and spent three years as the director of marketing and public relations at Premier Sports & Entertainment, an entertainment agency in Los Angeles. Palcic began her career in the National Football League with the Cleveland Browns.

Palcic served on the Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Houston. She is a graduate of Auburn University.
