The Jacksonville Jaguars will join with the other 31 NFL clubs for a national day of community service from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. next Tuesday by hosting up to 200 area children for a recreational event at the Woodland Acres Boys and Girls Club located in east Arlington.

Woodland Acres is the site of Jacksonville's first NFL Community Football Field made possible through the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and the NFL Youth Football Fund. The NFL Community Football Fields Program is a partnership of NFL Charities and LISC to provide non-profit, neighborhood-based organizations with financing and technical assistance to improve the quality, safety, and accessibility of local football fields. The program provides grants of up to $100,000 for capital improvement projects.

The Third Annual NFL and United Way Hometown Huddle will highlight players' volunteerism and the NFL's involvement with the United Way, a partnership that has spanned the last 28 years. The NFL and United Way Hometown Huddle is a collection of hands-on volunteer projects implemented simultaneously in different NFL cities across the country.

Working with the United Way of Northeast Florida, children ages 6-13 will have the opportunity to participate in a Junior Training Camp, a recreational and life skills program which the Jaguars bring to local elementary schools year-round.

The program involves a 30-minute assembly followed by a five station, non-contact football clinic. Jaguars' players will be on hand to deliver a motivational talk to children and to coach the children as they go through the five station drills. Each child will receive a T-shirt and goody bag provided by Gatorade, Motorola, and the Jaguars.
