P Logan Cooke Reflects on His Long-Term Goals Following Contract Extension

JACKSONVILLE – This is what Logan Cooke really wanted.

It's what the Jaguars really wanted, too.

Cooke, the Jaguars' veteran punter and perennially one of the NFL's best players at his position, signed a four-year extension with the team Monday. He and Head Coach Liam Coen discussed the extension Tuesday following Day 1 of 2025 minicamp at the Miller Electric Center.

"This is where I started; I'd love to finish here," Cooke said. "That's kind of what the goal is."

Cooke, a seventh-round selection in the 2018 NFL Draft, is the Jaguars' longest-tenured player and made his first career Pro Bowl last season. He also was a second-team Associated Press All-Pro selection in 2024.

Cooke’s extension marked the second such moment for the Jaguars’ special teams this offseason, with Coen upon his January hiring retaining Heath Farwell – the Jaguars' special teams coordinator since 2022.

"That was really important," Coen said. "It was critical to keep that continuity together, and so far, I've been nothing but pleased with these guys."

Long snapper Ross Matiscik has been selected to the last two Pro Bowls, with Cam Little last season emerging as one of the NFL's top young kickers as a rookie. The special teams overall ranked second in net punting and seventh in kickoff coverage in 2024.

"It's a testament to him and obviously our scheme puts people in good positions to make plays," Cooke said of Farwell, with Coen adding: "When you turn the tape on and you see the weapons that they are as specialists, that's a part of the game when you don't have those assets, it's a difficult game at times."

Cooke also expressed appreciation for Jaguars General Manager James Gladstone, who – like Coen – is in his first season with the organization.

"Me and him have talked about this before, but I haven't done a thing for him," Cooke said. "That's kind of what's cool about it to me, is he just got here, and he had enough faith in me to keep me around. So that means a lot."

Cooke, whose 112 career games is the most for a punter in franchise history, has averaged 47.4 gross yards and 43.5 net yards per punt in seven seasons. The gross average is the sixth best in NFL history and the net average is the best since the NFL began tracking the statistic in 1976.

Cooke in 2024 punted 68 times with a career-high 49.4 gross and 44.8 net average, with the net ranking second in the NFL. He placed 34 of his 68 punts inside the 20 last season.

"It's crazy; I'll be 30 next month and still swinging it," Cooke said. "I'm not saying I feel like I did when I was 21 but as far as consistency and feeling very comfortable on the field, that's kind of where I'm at right now. I'm trying to keep that consistent feel and try to keep everything as simple as possible. That's kind of the goal."
