0722 Offseason Article

JACKSONVILLE – Jaguars experts – Frank Frangie, Brent Martineau, John Oehser, Brian Sexton, J.P. Shadrick and Kainani Stevens – are breaking down the Jaguars as the 2025 NFL season approaches; today: What the experts see from the Jaguars for 2025

Frank Frangie, Radio Voice of the Jaguars

  • What I see from the Jaguars for 2025: The Jaguars in 2025 will be much improved. I really like how they have improved the roster. I believe Coen will be a very good head coach. I think Lawrence will take the next step. I think the defensive scheme will have players in positions that better fit them. Add it all up and I think it is a team with a winning record. And that may be enough to keep them in contention in the AFC South.

  • What I see from the Jaguars for 2025: I think the Jaguars are going to compete for a playoff spot - or maybe I'm just hoping the season isn't over by Thanksgiving. The turnovers and ten one-score losses from last season are anomalies - even for the Jags. I don't know how much better the Jaguars are on paper than a year ago - the losses of wide receiver Christian Kirk and tight end Evan Engram stand out - but the energy of the coaching staff, the new schemes and the chip on these players' shoulders will lead to a shot at the AFC South. I think we will know early. The Week 3 game against Houston is a must-win game in my opinion if the Jaguars are going to make a postseason run.

  • What I see from the Jaguars for 2025: The thought here is the Jaguars will be a better running team and a more disciplined, focused team throughout the season than was the case in 2024. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence and a talented set of receivers – particularly Brian Thomas Jr., rookie Travis Hunter and free-agent signee Dyami Brown – should improve throughout the season as they gain chemistry and as Lawrence gets increasingly comfortable in Head Coach Liam Coen's offense. The Jaguars therefore should be a better team in November and December than in September and October. I also expect the Jaguars will force more turnovers and fare better in close games. The thought here is that that will translate into the Jaguars pushing for .500 and – if things accelerate under Coen early – this team could contend for the postseason in late December. Either way, look for observers and fans to feel far better about this team at season's end than at the beginning. This should be a season of improvement.

  • What I see from the Jaguars for 2025: I expect the Jaguars will run the football, get better quarterback play and find a way to get more than the nine takeaways they had last season. The result will be a chance to play for the division title in an AFC South that is still as winnable a division as there is in the NFL in 2025.

The Jaguars were drafted into four teams led by a team captain and lieutenant in an "iron games" competition organized by Director of Strength and Conditioning coach, Eric Ciano. In this series of conditioning drills throughout the offseason programming, teammates were put to the test. • What I see from the Jaguars for 2025: The Jaguars in 2025 will take a step in the right direction and be in the mix for the AFC South title.

Kainani Stevens, Jaguars Team Reporter

  • What I see from the Jaguars for 2025: The Jaguars in 2025 will finish the season at 10-7 and I think that will be good enough to win the AFC South. Change here in Jacksonville has given an energy boost to the franchise and I think that will carry them into the postseason.
