WR Parker Washington Turns Heads as Jaguars Offense Dazzles on Day 11

Campservations Day 11

JACKSONVILLE – Jaguars 2025 Training Camp continued Wednesday.

It was the 11th day of the first training camp under Head Coach Liam Coen, featuring a two-hour, 30-minute practice in helmets and pads at the Miller Electric Center. Each day throughout camp, members of Jaguars Media – senior writer John Oehser, senior correspondent Brian Sexton, senior reporter/editor J.P. Shadrick and team reporter Kainani Stevens – will share an observation.

Here are Wednesday's "campservations:"

  • The Jaguars on Wednesday's Day 11 of 2025 camp followed a sluggish offensive day with a more efficient – and at times, spectacular – one, and it was easy to identify the standout player of the day as third-year wide receiver Parker Washington. He had one of the outstanding plays of the day early with a deep reception over cornerback Tyson Campbell and safety Andrew Wingard on a pass from starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence, and he followed that with a consistent practice while catching multiple passes for intermediate gains working from multiple receiver positions. Washington has been consistently productive enough through camp that it's fair to say the Jaguars have four legitimate receivers capable of consistent productivity in the regular season – Washington, rookie Travis Hunter, Brian Thomas Jr. and Dyami Brown. It's early and the foursome must perform in the regular season, but this has the potential to be the deepest -- and overall best – group of receivers in franchise history. Stay tuned, but this offense could be explosive.

  • I sidled up next to former Jaguars Head Coach Mike Mularkey to gain some insights while watching team drills Wednesday. "They're having a good day," he said. "There's a lot of energy out there for a second consecutive day in pads." Bingo. The offense, which struggled on Tuesday to play at a high level, looked focused on erasing the previous day. Lawrence threw a dart to the back shoulder of tight end of Brenton Strange to set up a risky – but impressive throw – to Brown on the goal line for a touchdown. Lawrence, who started camp at a moderate pace, is picking it up with a really good Friday night scrimmage and bouncing back on Wednesday with a resilience that this team didn't show in 2024. If you want to feel good about where this season could be headed, follow Lawrence, who seems to be as dialed in as he has at any point in his professional career.

  • The Jaguars went back in pads Wednesday, and the physicality ramped up with red-zone one-on-one periods, a live goal-line period and more. Washington had a few catches, including a deep ball between two defenders about 50 yards down the field from Lawrence. His versatility is appealing to a play designer such offensive coordinator Grant Udinski. It also was another big day for Strange, and the versatility of the tight end room will be an asset with acquisitions this offseason who have played a lot of football. We are all looking forward to seeing Coen's approach to starters playing – or not playing – in Saturday's preseason opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. It's one of the most important decisions a coach can make, especially a first-time head coach in his opening season.

  • Wednesday was a big day for former Penn State players, with Washington and Strange both standing out. Washington dazzled with an outstanding contested catch early in practice and continues to have a tremendous training camp while contributing on offense and special teams. In my opinion, Washington has the No. 4 wide receiver spot locked up. Not to be outdone, Strange hauled in a one-handed catch along the sideline in teams period during the two-minute drill. Strange spoke after practice about feeling more comfortable now that he has a consistent role in the offense. Injuries to Evan Engram last year forced Strange into the starting lineup, but he was not a consistent target for Lawrence. Strange said he is focusing on building that relationship and earning Lawrence's trust.
