JACKSONVILLE – Jaguars 2026 Training Camp continued Monday.

It was the fifth day of the second training camp under Head Coach Liam Coen, featuring a 90-minute practice in full pads at the Miller Electric Center. Each day throughout camp, members of Jaguars Media – senior writer John Oehser, senior correspondent Brian Sexton, senior reporter/editor J.P. Shadrick, team reporter Kainani Stevens and correspondent John Shipley – will share an observation.

Oehser…

• Monday around the MEC was as close to real as the Jaguars have been since January, with the first padded practice of '26 camp featuring multiple big plays and a few close-to-real hits. It also featured a steady rain early in practice, with Head Coach Liam Coen calling that part a positive as quarterbacks and receivers worked in slick conditions and players adapted to a soggy field. Among the day's highlights: A one-handed catch by wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. on a pass deep down the sideline from quarterback Trevor Lawrence, and more plays from wide receivers Jakobi Meyers and Parker Washington. It also was a day for progress for veteran running back Chris Rodriguez Jr., with the '26 free-agent signing turning in a few characteristically physical runs. As was the case during the first four days of camp, this was a good day for Lawrence and the offense. "We got our head kicked in today," cornerback Jourdan Lewis said. Monday also marked the first day of pass-rush drills of camp, with defensive tackle Arik Armstead turning in an impressive repetition against guard Ezra Cleveland and tackle Walker Little turning in multiple strong repetitions. Anton Harrison also looked strong at left tackle, where he has worked extensively in recent days. Day 2 in pads is Tuesday, with a scheduled players day off Wednesday. Onward.

• I appreciated Coen moving the "pass-rush party" to the end zones in front of the fans Monday morning. It's my favorite part of Day 1 in pads, and too many coaches move it to the side to feature 7-on-7 work with quarterbacks and wide receivers instead. It says something about the type of team Coen wants to put it in such a prominent place. Harrison put on a show at left tackle, where he has been working this camp. "He has done a nice job," Coen said. "It's part of what we have done, moving those guys around and seeing what sticks. If that ends up sticking, hopefully that's a good thing for us. He has put together five good practices so far." I talked to Harrison walking off the field, and he too felt good about his effort Monday and how good he feels on the left side – where he was a star at Oklahoma. Chuma Edoga and Little both took reps at right tackle Monday, and it's worth noting that Cole Van Lanen also feels pretty comfortable on the right side.

Shadrick …

• The Jaguars put pads on Monday for the first time in '26 camp and also shortened practice a bit. It was our first look at offensive line versus defensive line one-on-ones, and Harrison had a number of good reps at left tackle. What that means moving ahead at that position is something to watch as camp continues. In the competitive team "Mamba" period, Lawrence hit Washington and Thomas on clutch third-down conversion. The pass to Thomas was perfectly placed over the receiver's shoulder down the right side with a defender draped on him. The confidence level seems high for Thomas right now, and that's a great sign for this offense moving ahead.

Stevens…

• The first day of pads in '26 camp did not disappoint as the level of competition increased across the board. Individual drills took place in the indoor facility and Washington and Thomas had repeated wins against various defensive backs and looked impressive outside as well. Thomas had the play of the day with a one-handed catch down the right sideline in tight coverage by cornerback Montaric Brown. The catch combined with the perfect anticipatory throw from Lawrence made it a clear highlight. While not tackling to the ground, players are now hitting their padded counterparts and giving some authenticity to team drills that was lacking during organized team activities. Practice was brief Monday, but the pads stay on Tuesday as the Jaguars continue to build toward their joint practices later in training camp.

Shipley …

• If one Jaguars player stood out Monday, it was Harrison. He played left tackle for a third consecutive day and had a strong showing in one-on-one ​pass-rushing drills, winning reps against defensive ends Josh Hines-Allen and Danny Striggow. He earned strong praise from Coen after practice, and he has hardly looked out of place on the left side after starting camp at right tackle. Letting Harrison move around gives the Jaguars options at both tackle spots, and when he plays as he did on Monday, there might not be a bad option. Also standing out during pass-rush drills: Defensive end Travon Walker, registering wins rushing against both tackles and guards.
