JACKSONVILLE – Pads kept popping – this time for a bit longer.
This was Tuesday at Jaguars 2025 Training Camp, with the temperatures again high – and with players in pads for a second consecutive day at the Miller Electric Center. Day 6 of '25 camp was a day for a few big plays, and a day for contact and intensity.
Coordinator Anthony Campanile called Tuesday "a little bit more physical" for the defense.
"I thought we were communicating well, flying around,” Campanile said. "We have a lot of work to do. What I do like is I like the physicality today and we're starting to get a good culture."
The Jaguars worked for about two hours in 90-degree temperatures Tuesday. They held individual drills, with a period of one-on-one pass rush, and they held a high-contract team run period early for a second consecutive practice.
They also held multiple team drills, including a late-game situational period late in practice.
Campanile said the focus for the defense remains on "play style," with middle linebacker Foyesade Oluokun – like multiple Jaguars defensive players in recent days – praising the first-year coordinator’s “energetic” approach.
"He'll pick you right up," Oluokun said. "You don't want to let him down because you know he's going to call you out on it. I like that mentality. I think a defense or a team kind of takes a little bit of the personality of a coach, and I've said that many times. I like the personality he brings to the building."

The Jaguars ranked 31st of 32 NFL teams in yards allowed (389.9 yards per game) in 2024, 28th in points allowed (25.6) and last in takeaways (nine overall, eight defensively). Campanile on Tuesday said he believes the defense is "trending the right way."
"We're right about where we thought we'd be," Campanile said. "We have a lot of work to do, but the guys are really putting in a lot of great work. In the meetings, they're locked in. When you're in front of the room looking at them, everybody's locked in. Everybody's really detailed.
"They're trying to do it out here on the field. They're really doing a good job communicating and playing with good technique and good body position. To me, that's really what we're looking for and they're giving us that."
Jaguars players have a mandatory off day Wednesday, with a practice planned Thursday morning in helmets and spiders. A scrimmage is scheduled inside EverBank Stadium Friday night.
"We have to keep doing what we're doing," Campanile said. "We have to keep playing with a lot of passion and a lot of great communication every day.
"As long as we do that, we're going to be on course for where we'd like to be."

👀 Here's a look at Tuesday's practice:
PLAY OF THE DAY
- Rookie wide receiver/defensive back Travis Hunter – the No. 2 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft – turned in the play of the day along with quarterback Trevor Lawrence. This came relatively early in practice in a red-zone drill, with Lawrence scrambling to his left away from a rush. Lawrence avoided the rush, allowing Hunter time to first run a route to the corner, then to work his way back the other way against the defense before Lawrence found him for a touchdown pass in the back of the end zone.
- Hunter on Tuesday practiced on offense for a second consecutive day after working the previous two practices on defense and camp's first two practices on offense. He participated in 24 snaps Tuesday – all in 11-on-11 work – and caught two passes.
STANDING OUT
- Wide receiver Dyami Brown had his most standout day thus far in '25 camp, running two end arounds for long gains and catching a deep gain from Lawrence early in a late-game situation late in practice. Brown, who signed with the Jaguars in March as an unrestricted free agent from Washington, also caught a touchdown from Lawrence in red-zone work.
- Defensive end Travon Walker had a second consecutive strong day in one-on-one pass rush with two strong rushes against tackle Walker Little, and defensive end Josh Hines-Allen also had a second consecutive strong day in one-on-one pass rush.
- Kicker Cam Little converted three-of-three field-goal attempts in a late-practice situational drill.
- Cornerback Jourdan Lewis continued a strong early camp with a pass breakup.
- Running back Travis Etienne Jr. had multiple strong runs in the team running period, and he also had a 20-yard touchdown run in red-zone work.
- Tight end Hunter Long had a leaping touchdown reception in the corner of the end zone on a pass from backup quarterback Nick Mullens with safety Andrew Wingard in tight coverage.
INJURY WATCH
- Long sustained an ankle injury late in Tuesday's practice, being helped from the field after remaining down for a short time. Rookie running back Bhayshul Tuten missed a second consecutive practice with a hamstring issue, with cornerback Montaric Brown (lower leg) and guard Patrick Mekari (back) remaining out along with wide receiver Louis Rees-Zammit (lower back) and tight end Johnny Mundt (upper body). Brown is expected to be out through training camp. Defensive tackle Maason Smith and linebacker Dennis Gardeck remain on the physically unable to perform list to start camp, with Smith's injury undisclosed and Gardeck having sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament with the Arizona Cardinals last season.
