JACKSONVILLE – Jaguars 2025 Training Camp continued Friday.
It was the third day of the first training camp under Head Coach Liam Coen, featuring an hour-fifty-minute practice in helmets and "spiders" at the Miller Electric Center. Each day throughout camp, members of Jaguars Media – senior writer John Oehser, senior reporter/editor J.P. Shadrick and team reporter Kainani Stevens – will share an observation.

- We're still "ramping up" at '25 camp – and all that that implies. Day 3 Friday wasn't perfect, but perfection isn't expected early in camp – which was why Head Coach Liam Coen was measured in his reaction after a practice that featured extensive red-zone work and few big plays from the first-team offense. "I don't think it was necessarily a bad day," Coen said shortly after a practice in 88-degreee temperatures at the MEC. "We just didn't make any plays." A few players did stand out, with third-year veteran wide receiver Parker Washington having perhaps the best day of the front-line wide receivers. He caught two touchdown passes in red-zone drills, including a nice reception in the middle of the end zone on a dart of a pass from quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
- Fourth-year linebacker Chad Muma – practicing with a cast on one hand – also turned in a highlight play, intercepting a pass from Lawrence that was tipped at the line of scrimmage and returning it for a touchdown. Remember: While this maybe wasn't the sharpest practice in franchise history, it's Day 3. There's one more day with helmets and spiders before pads go on for Monday's practice. That means there's perhaps a little looking ahead going on. The real stuff starts Monday. Real hitting (as much as we get in camp these days), real pass rush, real intensity. That's when things start accelerating and mattering much more than Friday.

- The Jaguars focused on red zone for the better part of practice Friday, working in both seven-on-seven and 11-on-11 scenarios inside the 20. In the 11-on-11 portion, it felt like the defense had the upper hand with pass deflections and forced incompletions against the first-team offense. A few plays stood out in the seven-on-seven period, including two touchdown receptions from Washington. One came underneath the goalpost on the back line of the end zone with a diving catch in traffic. The other came along the goal line at the 1-yard line, outside the numbers, where he fought for the ball against a defender, turned up field and reached out to tap the pylon for a diving score. The Jags are off Saturday, then back in spiders Sunday. Training camp turns up to 11 starting Monday and Tuesday when shoulder pads go on for the first time, and we will really start to dig into the offensive and defensive lines.

- Extensive teams periods on Day 3 were a bit frustrating to watch at times if you're a fan of offensive playmaking. Coen remarked after practice that the offense simply, "didn't make any plays." Lawrence was picked off by Muma after the pass was tipped at the line of scrimmage, an impressive feat considering Muma is playing with a cast on his right hand. Brian Thomas Jr. struggled throughout practice with a few drops, including a would-be touchdown at the end of practice; frustration certainly boiled over for the second-year receiver after a tough day. Rookie wide receiver/defensive back Travis Hunter practiced solely on defense Friday, so perhaps more pressure was put on his counterpart in Thomas. A mandatory player day off Saturday will be a good reset for the offense before the Jaguars are back at it again on Sunday.
