JACKSONVILLE – Jaguars 2026 Training Camp continued Thursday.

It was the seventh day of the second training camp under Head Coach Liam Coen, featuring a ninety-minute practice in light pads and helmets at the Miller Electric Center. Each day throughout camp, members of Jaguars Media – senior writer John Oehser, senior correspondent Brian Sexton, team reporter Kainani Stevens and correspondent John Shipley – will share an observation.

Oehser…

• This was a comparatively light day – with a familiar feel. The lightness came in the form of a 90-minute practice in spiders – light pads – and helmets, with the Jaguars preparing for their annual "mock game" at the MEC Friday. The familiar part came from the increasingly reliable tandem of wide receiver Parker Washington and quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who connected for yet another memorable play midway through practice with Lawrence finding Washington wide open for a long touchdown down the middle of the field. Washington increasingly looks like a core player and an elite receiver, and his chemistry with Lawrence feels like a foundation piece of one of the NFL's better offenses. Rookies such as running back J'Mari Taylor and CJ Williams also continue to stand out impressively, and – along with rookie receiver Josh Cameron – could be players to watch in upcoming joint practice and preseason games.

• When it comes to the Jaguars' secondary, the question doesn't matter. There are enough good answers in the group that you feel good about their ability to cover anything that comes up in 2026. The Jags re-signed cornerback Montaric Brown in the spring, but nickel corner Jarrian Jones is the guy everyone is talking about through Week 1 of camp – and Jones had a beautiful pass defensed Thursday on a long pass thrown beautifully by backup quarterback Nick Mullens to Williams to keep his momentum rolling. Veteran corner Jourdan Lewis is again the guy everyone in the secondary looks to – and with Travis Hunter penciled in for a very prominent role at cornerback, the Jaguars have plenty at outside and at nickel. The safeties might be even more loaded, with Antonio Johnson - coming off a five-interception season – having an interception Tuesday. Veteran Eric Murray registered an interception on Monday. With Caleb Ransaw back from injury and rookie Jalen Huskey, who has been quietly impressive with a number of plays on the ball so far in camp, new defensive pass-game coordinator/secondary coach Mathieu Araujo has a strong room.

• Jaguars 2026 Training Camp entered Week 2 and saw a bit of a special teams focus Thursday. While there may be limited roster spots available, the open ones likely will go to top special teams contributors. Special teams coordinator Heath Farwell, speaking after practice Thursday, said he was pleased with the competition and named second-year safeties Ransaw and Rayuan Lane III as standouts at the gunner position. Washington and Farwell hope to have Washington continue at punt returner, where Washington was dynamic last season with multiple game-changing plays. It remains to be seen if Washington will still return punts as his role increases in the offense. Look for Cameron as a possible punt return replacement, as he has shown flashes so far in camp.

Shipley …

• It was a heavy day of team work for the Jaguars on Thursday morning, with the Jaguars focusing on 11-on-11 drills and not having any 7-on-7 or 1-on-1 drills. This meant plenty of reps for the first-, second- and third-team units, and several players stood out in the process. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence had a clean day of passing, hitting chunk gains at one point another to Brian Thomas Jr., Jakobi Meyers, Parker Washington, Brenton Strange, and Tim Jones. Also impressing for the Jaguars' offense was running back Chris Rodriguez Jr., who had several nice gains down the middle of the defense when the Jaguars leaned on the running game while backed up to their own end-zone. Forcing takeaways for the Jaguars' defense on the day was linebacker Ventrell Miller, who forced and recovered a fumble on Ameer Abdullah, and Preston Hodge with an interception off fellow rookie Joey Aguilar.
