GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Jaguars won Sunday, and that mattered.
They're a game closer to first place because they won – and that mattered very much, too.
Trevor Lawrence threw 3 touchdown passes to counter 4 turnovers, and the Jaguars' defense made its biggest stop at the biggest moment. The result: A stop-and-start, hold-your-breath late November victory over the Arizona Cardinals – 27-24 in overtime at State Farm Stadium Sunday afternoon.
Kicker Cam Little's 52-yard field goal with 7:46 remaining in overtime gave the Jaguars their final lead. The Cardinals drove to the Jaguars 42 on the ensuing possession, with safety Andrew Wingard breaking up Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett's deep pass to wide receiver Xavier Weaver on fourth-and-4 to end the game.
The Jaguars (7-4) won a second consecutive game to pull to within a game of the AFC South-leading Indianapolis Colts (8-3), 23-20 losers in overtime at the Kansas City Chiefs (6-5) Sunday. The Jaguars are 2-0 in overtime on the road this season.
Lawrence's 9-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Parker Washington with 3:47 remaining gave the Jaguars a 24-21 lead but after the Jaguars stopped the Cardinals once on downs, Arizona drove for kicker Chad Ryland's 29-yard field goal with :03 remaining to force overtime.
Lawrence threw a first-quarter touchdown pass to running back Travis Etienne Jr. to give the Jaguars an early touchdown lead, and his third-quarter touchdown pass to wide receiver Jakobi Meyers gave them a three-point lead entering the final quarter.
Lawrence completed 18 of 30 passes for 256 yards and 3 touchdowns with 3 interceptions, with tight end Brenton Strange – in his first game back after a five-game absence with a hip injury – leading the Jaguars with 5 receptions for 93 yards.
Cardinals defensive tackle Walter Nolen III returned Lawrence's fumble for a first-quarter touchdown, and cornerback Garrett Williams end-zone interception prevented a Jaguars third-quarter touchdown. Safety Budda Baker and linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither also intercepted Lawrence in the second half.
Wide receiver Greg Dortch's 39-yard reception from Brissett gave the Cardinals a 21-17 lead three plays after Baker's interception at the Jaguars 41.
Brissett completed 33 of 49 passes for 317 yards and 1 touchdown with no interceptions, with wide receiver Michael Wilson leading the Cardinals with 10 receptions for 118 yards.
The Jaguars registered 6 sacks Sunday, with linebacker Dennis Gardeck – who signed with the Jaguars as an unrestricted free agent from Arizona this past offseason – registering 1.5 and linebacker Devin Lloyd also registering 1.5. Defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton, defensive end Josh Hines-Allen and safety Antonio Johnson also registered sacks for the Jaguars, who entered Sunday tied for 29th in the NFL with 15 sacks.

Notable: Jaguars starting corner/nickelback Jourdan Lewis missed a third consecutive game with a neck injury Sunday while cornerback Jarrian Jones – questionable on Friday's final injury report of the week – played with a quadriceps injury. The Jaguars' six other inactive players Sunday: Starting wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. (ankle), running back Cody Schrader, starting defensive end Travon Walker (knee), linebacker Yasir Abdullah (finger), starting right tackle Anton Harrison (knee/ankle) and tight end Hunter Long (hip/knee).
Jaguars injury report: Offensive lineman Chuma Edoga sustained a second-quarter calf injury and did not return. Defensive end Danny Striggow sustained a fourth-quarter knee injury and returned.
